Air wings

Postby joew7139 » Sat Jun 11, 2011 12:39 pm

I have a 1985 GL 1200 that came with the wings that mount to the fairing at the air ride controls and at same height on the other side. They are designed to pull in more air to rider or to deflect air depending on which way they are turned. The right side was cracked and went to pieces the other day. I was wondering who makes them and where I can get a new set.

Check out J.C. Whitney. They have them and far cheaper than what they are asking on EBay ;)

Thanks for the responce. I had a rare moment of good memory and remembered the name Baker Wings and ordered just the replacement wings for less than half of what the whole new set would cost.LOL

I am totally amazed at what they want to charge you for a peice of plastic. I also discovered the hard way that front fender screws can sell for $2.50 EACH!

I have made a set using 3/16" lexan. easy to cut and shape the edges.Take the pieces to a sheet metal shop and ask them to bend them in thier brake. Lexan bends well and holds that bend without breaking. You should be able to get small pieces of lexan cheaply from most any glass shop.Happy bonus is the lexan wont crack or break like plexi or acrylic will.Hope this helps.

Ride safe, Todd
Over night campers welcome
