My recently acquired "treasure" has a heat shielf on the right side of the motor that covers the rear and prevents heat burns to the right ankle. The left side does not have such a shield and I'm constantly reminded of that fact everytime my left ankle comes close to the motor. And, it is chrome too.
I've checked several online GW/chrome sites to no avail as well as internet engine searches. Anyone know where I might find the heat shield?
Thanks in advance, Cal

Re: Wanted: 82 GL1100 Heat Shield
I am a little confused as to what you mean by a heat shield, the only ones that are stock from the factory are on the exhaust headers, could you post a picture of the one you still have. It might speed things up a bit.
If you can feel heat from your motor on your ankle then you must not be wearing boots when you ride.I urge you to wear the proper gear each time you ride.ATGATT ,all the gear all the time. end of lecture.

Re: Wanted: 82 GL1100 Heat Shield
Thanks for the safety reminder but I was in the garage getting my new treasure ready for her maiden NC voyage.
Anyway, here's digitals for both the right and left sides of my engine. The right side has a chrome heat shield on the back end while the left side does not.

Britman has it right, its not a heatshield. It is bling to dress up an otherwise ugly fuel pump.

Thanks gentlemen. This being my first GW I have a large learning curve. The search is terminated. Now to concentrate on getting the radiator hoses replaced and the system flushed!
