Rubber inserts for holding side covers on GL1100?

Postby rirons0625 » Tue Jul 12, 2011 10:27 am

Missing a couple of the rubber inserts on my recently purchased 81 Interstate. Any ideas where to find them? Thanks!

Dunno if those rubber parts are even available... (if anyone knows of a source tell us!!)

I might try to go to a muffler shop with one of the remaining rubbers and see if they have any of the rubber isolators used for hanging mufflers that yo could "modify" to fit into the holes in the frame to be able to hold the side covers on again...

Another possibility id a good hardware store that might have a selection of rubber grommets that might be sized correctly for the cover's pins..

Good luck and if you find any solutions, please post back and let us know what you found....

I use the http://cyclemax.com ones, they work great. I put a tiny bit of vaseline on them to help the covers slide in easier without breaking the plastic studs, and I use Rudy's straps to make sure they never come off!

They are the same size as the ones on my 2009 Honda Shadow Aero 750 Trike. Check your local Honda Dealer or motorcycle savage yard.
