2013 Honda Goldwing - BREAKING NEWS!
I just spoke with a Honda dealer I trust and he told me about the 2013 Honda Goldwing.
It will NOT change.
The look of the bike will be the same.
If you're waiting to buy a bike.... don't!
Honda is NOT making any changes to the 2013 Honda Goldwing. This is per a Honda dealer in the Northeast.

That's disappointing. I was hoping for a ... wow!
Re: 2013 Honda Goldwing - BREAKING NEWS!
A lot of people are upset but perhaps 2014 will be a better year for Honda.
Many know that old Goldwing owners will be buying other brands in 2013. HD could really do well if they upgrade their Highway bikes to take advantage of Honda's inability to keep up. I also think that Honda's recall on the dangerous back brak issues for the Goldwings is another nail in their box.

While I am expecting only color changes, neither I nor anyone else know exactly what will happen until the introduction date.
Honda seems to be one of the best at keeping secrets and I assure you that dealer does not have an "inside track". No one does.
Since he's a dealer he may be telling that so he can convince people to buy now so he can move the bikes he has on hand!!!!!!!!!!!!

in most ways harley hasn't caught up with goldwings yet and the bmw gtl1600 is just a sport-tourer with bigger bags than the gt1600tvstaff wrote:A lot of people are upset but perhaps 2014 will be a better year for Honda.

Re: 2013 Honda Goldwing - BREAKING NEWS!
I am going to have to agree with detdrbuzzard. An HD isn't close to a Honda Goldwing, and I don't think they want to improve. HD is making money selling yesterday's technology.
Now, I am going to disagree about the BMW GTL 1600. That bike's bags are not that much smaller than the Wing's bags - look up the specs. But ... it all depends on how much the rider wants to bring with him. Now, I only bring what will fit in the bags: clothes, bottled water, food, first aid kit, tools, and a tire repair kit. All of that stuff will fit in a BMW GTL 1600's bags. Plus, the BMW 1600 gets better gas milage. The BMW GTL 1600 will go from my house in PA to San Francisco; but the ride will not be as comfortable as a Wing's ride. Which is why I bought a Goldwing.

Re: 2013 Honda Goldwing - BREAKING NEWS!
Why would anyone be expecting a change in looks. The 2012 is the first of it's body style. Lets see, 2001 to 2010, same basic body style with some electronics changes in 2006. I would not look for a "looks" change in the wing till about 2017 at that rate. About five years between changes, no? And nothing else about the Goldwing really NEEDS changing. It is the most comfortable, fastest, biggest touring bike available that actually looks like a bike. (because Victory just looks wrong)(Kawasaki is a V-Twin, so might as well go all the way Harley)(BMW is not overly comfortable)(Harley is not really fast compared to a wing) There are no motorcycles that compare to a Goldwing as an all round touring bike. Sorry for those seven foot tall men who find the Goldwing too small, but nothing else is bigger. A seat change to a Corbin or Ultimate will better suit the really big man. But to get back to the very first post of this thread - I have to agree with those who say the dealer don't know squat. Honda is indeed the best secret keeper there is.tvstaff wrote:I just spoke with a Honda dealer I trust and he told me about the 2013 Honda Goldwing.

the one thing i hope they do change is the silver/gray fairing panels and go back to solid colors or at least two tone complimentory colors. i like the current red and blue bikes but am turned off by the gray panels. i have heard from other riders and sales men that they hear the complaint often. some have pained them to match.
Re: 2013 Honda Goldwing - BREAKING NEWS!
I don't see many choices now. I'm the type that has traveled for 3 months on a bike with nothing but a tent and sleeping bag. And comfort is really important.
The BMW is not near the comfort level of a Wing.
I will say that HD is making much better bikes now and if you're a big man the CVO Ultra Classic Electra Glide at $37,000 is a real option.
I'd buy a Wing if the style was better and I knew the rear brake issues are fixed.
As of now, the Wing looks like a Japanese Transformer Toy and the electronics are outdated.
The current Goldwing reminds me of the old joke about why "Elephants Paint Their Toenails Red......"

TVSTAFF, the rear breaks have been fixed. And you are correct about the electronics; they are out of date. The 2012 Wing's electronics would've been excellent five years ago.

Re: 2013 Honda Goldwing - BREAKING NEWS!
Ya'll should try to remember real hard...No one liked the 1800's when they came out in 2001 year model. When 2002 year model came along guess what...everyone cried because there wasn't any change.
I don't remember when the 1500's came out, well I can remember back that far but I wasn't into wings then, but I'd bet it's the same story each new generation. Boo Hoo this or that, and oooh aaaah this and that.
I love my wing, I loved my last wing and there's no comparison between the two. I'm sure with the current model there are people that love them and hate them. No since crying about it.
For the record, my dealer claims there has been no news about a 2013 yet. So this and many other forums that have a thread like this are rumor only in my opinion.

Look at your bike. It looks like a bike! What ever got into Hond's head is beyond me. And what's with a cb radio that costs 1000.00 dollars that is not integrated with a cell phone, music and nav system. Yes we'll all admit that the electronics are dated but don't charge triple for outdated technology. Even those that can afford it feel like its wrong. The security system needs an update. As for the rear brakes being fixed.... That's a scary one. Mess with just about anything but NOT my brakes.
The dealer who said that the 2013 Honda Goldwing was not going to change is probably right. Having front panels that match the bike would help a lot and fixing that butt ugly trunk... Well who knows.
I'm very disappointed as I Really wanted to buy a wing this year.....

Re: 2013 Honda Goldwing - BREAKING NEWS!
Let's hope the 2013 model will have the updated electronics that we all want. Hell, I have a 2012; and I just might trade-up, if the updated electronics impress me. But I am not going to hold my breath, in hopeful anticipation.
I think Honda considers the Goldwing a niche market for older riders; that being the case, they might be afraid that too much tech will scare away their loyal fans. It won't; but most board meetings are full of young dumb f***s. I am tired of having to live down to someone's opinion of me; of what I can and cannot do. Hell, these are the guys who came up with the 2012's paint job. Enough said.

Re: 2013 Honda Goldwing - BREAKING NEWS!
well I hope they change the paint and either reshape the saddlebags or trunk so they match. electrics certainly could stand an update.
i still wish they would put some more storage space on them like the 1500s had.
my thing is this, find one you like and keep it no matter what Honda does with the new ones.

2012 vs. 2013 model?? What's the difference, i can't afford either one.
So I guess I'll just keep my little 'ol 1200 and enjoy riding.
