Re: 94 GL1500 radio speaker outputs
The Interstate has outputs for 4 speakers.
Take a look at the radio manuals here.
Sometimes you might find an aftermarket fader in the mix, (look for an additional knob someplace), but since the PO wired all to the front I doubt that's the case.

The radio has 2 output to the speakers. Look at this diagram.

Thanks all!! It's just that the rear speakers are new and do work but not very loud.

That the reason the fader were factory installed on the SE models and you could get the add on fader for the other models. Factory speaker are 3 ohms, wonder what the PO put in the rear? Could make a differents.

Can anyone tell me what aftermarket speakers will be an exact fit in the front of my 94 Interstate GL1500? Having trouble finding an exact replacement.

The best aftermarket speaker is the Polk DB501 - they fit in the front cutouts, sound great, and are weather proof.Johnf1059 wrote:Can anyone tell me what aftermarket speakers will be an exact fit in the front of my 94 Interstate GL1500? Having trouble finding an exact replacement.
The rears are slightly smaller, and Polk DB401's fit in there:

Re: 94 GL1500 radio speaker outputs
On the fronts, you will have to cut the mounting tab slots, so that they extend to the end of the metal. VERY simple modification. At that point, they will fit nicely. You may need to add washers under the mounting screws to assure a good grip on the speaker frame.
I can't speak about the rears with DB401's, as I used a different set of speakers in the rear. But I can tell you the DB501's work excellent in the front.

Re: 94 GL1500 radio speaker outputs
I just bought a rear speaker kit for my 94 Goldwing. Why would Honda build a Goldwing and not include the rear speakers?
I am trying to find in the wiring on the left hand side the connectors Show Chrome is telling me to find these G1 & G2 connectors.
Has anyone else added this rear speaker kit? Where are these connections?
I have the left side of the Wing opened up, and I want to remove only as much protective tape as is necessary.
Looking forward to some advise.

Re: 94 GL1500 radio speaker outputs
My rear speakers are connected to the harness that is under the passenger seat.
There are two 4 pin connectors next to a large 24 pin connector in a rubber boot.

Re: 94 GL1500 radio speaker outputs
Hi John
I have a 94 Aspencade. It was not wired for rear speakers. I found on another posting pictures that showed the connector right beside the CB radio. To get to it though took a lot of dismantling. I was noy thrilled by that. Why Honda didn't fit all Goldwings with rear speakers is beyond me. Anyway I finally got it done. I had so run some of my own wires because the harness that I got with the speaker kit was not long enough. It sure is nice to have the rear speakers.

Re: 94 GL1500 radio speaker outputs
The reason for no rear speakers is that there is profit to be made selling accessory speakers, some owners only listen to headsets, and some never turn the radio on. Also using only 2 channels, of a 15 watt per channel radio, to drive 4 speakers is kind of worthless at speed.

Re: 94 GL1500 radio speaker outputs
Tomorrow I am going to replace the front speakers so all 4 will be 4 ohm speakers and installing a 800watt amp. That is if it is delivered tomorrow. I'm not looking for loud just a good sound. The factory setup sounds terrible! IMO!

Check out my post....you can get nearly true 4 channel without that funky fader device that I thought didn't work worth a crap.Johnf1059 wrote:Can anyone tell me how many speaker outputs there are?
