another clutch question

Post by hap2 » Sun Apr 15, 2018 9:48 pm

my clutch master cylinder in empty. Just to get it out of the garage, can I just top it up then get it bled properly later?

You may have to bleed it to get it to work.

It was like that before & I had to take it to the garage, so I just topped it up & it worked, so I'm really hoping

You need to figure out why it's empty. It is a closed system, so it should never be "using up" clutch fluid.

If there is an obvious leak (i.e. stains on the ground under the bike) that's one thing - but if there is no obvious leak, and the clutch fluid is disappearing, chances are it's disappearing INTO the engine - and if you run the engine with clutch fluid in it, it will destroy the crank bearings - which means you'll be looking for a new engine.

First find out why the fluid is disappearing and address that issue. Don't just "fill it up" and call it good.
