Cruise Control on a GL1200 LTD '85

Last summer I bought a '85 LTD. Great bike, love to ride it. (after riding my custom GL 1100 for 25 years )
After some love and care everything works (and looks great) except one thing: the Cruise Control.

The former owner disabled the CC, because it isn't allowed here in the Netherlands. My guess and hope is that he disabled it in a way that is can be restored easily.
When the key is turned, all the check lights of the CC work. The CC on button works and the checklight in the dash lights up, but it has no effect.
My question is where to look for a disconnected plug or something? What would be a smart way of disabling the system?

I guess the easy way would be to plug the vacuum line or disconnect the control unit or one of the cancel switches.

Thanks Dave, finding the vacuum line and switches is a challenge itself. This bike is loaded with stuff I don't immediatly recognize.
I guess when the control unit was disconnected, the lights in the dashboard won't work either? They all work properly.
Any clue to find the cancel switches? I read there is one in the clutch, will check it out.

It won't be the clutch switch, disconnecting it will not cause the cruise to not set. The front and rear brakes both have a double switch, 1 for the brake lights and one for the cruise. There is also a throttle cancel switch, not sure where it is on you LTD.

Dave, thanks for this. I noticed my levers (clutch and brake) are from an other GL1200. The lowest switches on either side (Cruise?) are not covered/ switched by the lever at all. The lever just doesn't push the switch at all. Now as you said, it might not be the cause, but I first will replace the levers by the right ones.
