Springtime Product Spectacular! Yes, it's that time of year again, time for the bi-annual product and accessory special! We go over some of the most popular classic products, as well as some of the newer products that we've come across and tried out. One of the most unique products we're featuring this year is being produced by our very own member ronlahr: custom Goldwing cookie cutters! Using his cookie cutters, you can create accurate (and tasty!) copies of your Goldwing! Some time ago I wanted a wireless-charging phone mount for my bike, so I built one out of a RAM mount and the insides of a wireless charger. It worked, but it definitely wasn't waterproof. Since then, I switched to a RAM-Mount GDS phone dock, although it does not have wireless charging. Now there is a new product, a motorcycle phone mount with integrated wireless charging: the Goldstrike Cybercharger Wireless Charging Phone Holder. Organizing the mess of junk in my trunk is always a challenge. The GL1800 Trunk Lid Organizer for 2001-2017 GL1800's and GL1800 Trunk Organizer for 2018+ GL1800's help keep your GL1800 trunk un-junked! Kisan, well known for its headlight modulators, is producing new bright halogen 1157 brake lights that will work in a wide range of Goldwings - any Goldwing (or car, for that matter) that uses 1157 bulbs for its brake lights. The difference is: they are modulating brake lights, that flash when brakes are applied, to warn drivers behind you that you're slowing down: Kisan Modulating 1157 Brake Lights. If you have a 2018+ Goldwing Tour with a spoiler, they are making a plug-and-play module that flashes your spoiler brake lights: Kisan 2018+ Tour Spoiler Brake Modulator. Lastly, don't feel left out GL1500 owners - they make a plug-and-play module for your spoiler brake lights as well: Kisan GL1500 Spoiler Brake Modulator New 4K Dual Camera System from Innovv (with video)! Anyone who has followed GoldwingDocs for some time now knows that I have had an Innovv camera system of one kind or another on my bike for years. Innovv has released a brand new dual camera system, the K5. This system gives you amazing 4K video on the front camera, and full HD video on the rear camera. The DVR is now miniaturized and built into the front camera, so no separate DVR module is required. I have created a new video (shot fully in 4K) that is one of the most extensive and detailed videos that I have ever posted. Watch as I go over the camera and its features, then come along with me as I show exactly how I install it on my Goldwing. Lastly, ride along with me as we look at sample footage from daytime and nighttime rides, as well as still images shot with the camera function. I have to say, this is one impressive system, and the footage that comes out of it is just stunning. Check out my extensive review, along with the accompanying video here: Innovv K5 4K Dual Camera System More Products! We have featured many different GPS trackers over the years, and in the past year we switched our recommendations to a new product from a different provider. Check out what we tested and recommend as the best motorcycle and personal GPS tracker device. Springtime brings mud and dirt on the roads, so our bikes are apt to get dirty. By far the best product we've found for cleaning them is Honda Spray Cleaner and Polish - it's so good that it's used by competing manufacturers! Sometimes we get products that we reviewed years ago, that our members rediscover and create new insights. The Go Cruise Throttle Lock is one of those - a very usable (and cheap!) alternative to cruise control. Of course we couldn't go past our product review without our perennial favorites, the JACO FlowPro Digital Tire Inflator Gauge and the Deltran Battery Tender Jr., both of which continue to earn strong recommendations from our members. Don't have electricity where you store your bike? Then a Solar Bettery Tender might be your solution. And don't forget these handy Battery Tender accessories! If you do any work on your bike and don't already have a set of JIS Screwdrivers, now is the time! Gloves? With the summer heat approaching, I still love my Rev'It Sand 3 gloves, the best summer riding gloves I've ever used. We're now four years into my experience with the MotoBatt AGM Battery on my GL1500, and it's still working like new! Many of our members have fallen in love with ROK Straps since we initially featured them. I use mine all the time! Similarly, I use my Nelson-Rigg Compact Backpack continually - I actually own two of them now. Last, and certainly not least, I should mention our own products. We continue to sell a ton of 7 Volt Regulators for GL1000, GL1100 and some GL1200 Goldwings. We've sold more in the past five months than in any five month period ever! Also selling like crazy over the past few months are our G8MS-H30 GL1500 Relays. We have sold thousands of these relays over the years, and it seems demand is only increasing. One final item: our beloved GPS Input for GL1500 and GL1800. We now have less than 30 remaining in stock, and once they're gone, they are gone forever! If you have ever wanted to connect your GPS or cell phone to your bike's intercom, so that you could hear the GPS instructions over your headset, now is the time, before they're gone! Gloves and Screens With the advent of touch screen devices - phones and GPS's primarily, it became a struggle to operate them while wearing gloves. My phone is now the navigation AND entertainment device on my bike, and sometimes it's a struggle to operate it. The problem is, there's no electrical connection between your finger and the screen, so the capacitative screen can't detect a touch. I tried sewing conductive thread into the fingertip of a glove, with limited success. However, GoldwingDocs member oldcase has recently come across a new method of non-destructively modifying your gloves that works extremely well, takes only seconds, and costs pennies! I'm actually a bit ashamed that I didn't think of this idea myself, but I tried it, and it works! Read all about it: Making gloves work with touch screens Electronic Toll Passes Electronic toll passes are RFID devices that you can affix to your vehicle that allow you to speed through toll plazas without having to stop and wait in line to pay cash. Many highway authorities recognize each other's passes, and in some jurisdictions, motorcycle-specific tags like mine, shown here, allow you to automatically be charged cheaper rates available to motorcycles. There are different RFID systems in use, and different types of tags. Some are completely passive, and others have long-life batteries inside. Depending on the type in use in your area, you have a varied number of places that you can install them on your bike for them to work consistently. GoldwingDocs member pedropedro wondered what the best mounting practices were for these toll passes, and our members responded! Check out which tag position is the best for your tag and your bike: Electronic Toll Passes on Goldwings Save Your Engine! (Video) With the advent of spring, many people are starting up their bikes for the first time since their beloved Goldwings have awakened from their winter slumber. Not so fast! The first start up of spring is one of the most wear-inducing actions that can occur to your precious engine! There's a simple and effective way of reducing this wear significantly, and in this short video we show exactly what it is, and how you can do it to your bike: Prevent Engine Wear (VIDEO) Unwanted Pinstriping? Goldwing owners just love to customize their bikes. And one of the most popular ways they do this (besides chroming every visible surface) is with pinstriping. Pinstriping can be applied as vinyl decals or custom paint, and are normally a highly personal choice. The problem is when you purchase a bike with custom pinstriping applied that...might not necessarily suit your tastes. What to do? There are actually simple and relatively simple techniques of removing pinstriping that leave the underlying paint and finish completely untouched. GoldwingDocs member Sassy just finished removing the pinstriping from his new GL1500, and others spoke up asking how to remove pinstriping from their own bikes. Check out the discussion, and see the recommended methods of removing specific types of pinstriping: Pinstripe Removal GoldwingDocs Gathering Update The fifth annual GoldwingDocs Gathering is scheduled for August 25 through August 29, and this year is being held in Wise, VA. The hotel information has just been posted, and we have a block of rooms reserved at a special group rate. If you're planning to attend, I would suggest making your reservation now. Several members are getting together to share rooms and costs. Check out the Gathering thread for the latest details, hotel contact information and to have any questions you might have answered: Fifth Annual GoldwingDocs Gathering Goldwing on U-Haul Motorcycle Trailer? GoldwingDocs member Skyryder is planning a trip and wants to take his 2003 GL1800 with him. He's wondering if anyone has any experience using the U-Haul motorcycle trailer to haul a motorcycle, whether or not a Goldwing will safely fit on it, and any other tips or ideas. Rather alarmingly, he had been told that tying the bike down to the trailer by its handlebars was the correct way of securing the bike, which is definitely not the case: Goldwings should NEVER be secured using their handlebars. Find out what our members had to say about their experiences with the U-Haul motorcycle trailer, and the best method of transporting Goldwings: U-Haul Motorcycle Trailers Dunlop E4 Tire Worn Out Too Fast GoldwingDocs member rolandranger is frustrated. He installed a new Dunlop Elite 4 on the rear of his 2010 GL1800, along with some Centramatic balancers. 4,800 miles later, the tire is worn to the point that it has no tread remaining. He usually rides solo, doesn't pull a trailer, and maintains proper air pressure. He's at a loss as to why this normally well-reviewed tire lasted such a short amount of time. Our members have some ideas and suggestions. What about you? Have you experienced short life from a Dunlop E4 tire on your Goldwing? Or conversely, have you experienced long life from your tire? Add to the conversation: New Dunlop Elite 4 Rear Tire Wore Out Too Fast Synthetic Oil: Clutch Slippage? Member Shootdaroc has a 1995 GL1500 trike had a problem with his clutch slipping very badly several years ago. Thanks to GoldwingDocs, he discovered the problem was a blocked return port in his clutch master cylinder. He recently flushed the clutch system and replaced the conventional oil in his engine with Mobil 1 synthetic - an excellent oil on which GL1500's thrive. I have actually used this oil in my own GL1500 for years with excellent results. The problem Shootdaroc is experiencing however is that the clutch has now started to slip again. Are you experiencing clutch slippage, and want to see the diagnostic process used to work out the problem with Shootdaroc's trike? Or perhaps you're interested in the different causes of clutch slippage? Check out: Clutch slippage after flush and synthetic oil change GL1200 Stalls After Highway Riding Member Ischmunk599 in Saskatchewan has great GL1200 in perfect shape with only 13,000 miles on the clock. He got it out of winter storage, and it starts right up, no problem at all. In the city, the bike runs like a top. The problem begins when he gets onto the highway. At highway speeds, the bike starts shutting down, then it comes back to life, and then starts to shut down again. The other day, it shut down completely, and he had to coast to a stop at the side of the road. The bike would crank, but refused to start. He's looking for help from our members to help him diagnose and fix the problem. Think you know what the cause might be? Or want to follow along as we get him riding again? Check out: 1986 Goldwing GL1200 Stalls After Highway Riding While the Plastic Is Off... Last month we had a question from a member asking what maintenance tasks he should perform while he has the rear wheel off. This month, member bdevlinor has a similar question. He's pulled lots of plastic bodywork off his GL1500 in order to replace the air filter and sub air filter, replace the spark plugs, and remove a couple huge mouse hotels that he discovered. He plans to add metal mesh over the air filter intake, like I show here in the How To Replace Your Air Filter how-to article, to prevent future mouse infestations. However, he's wondering what other items he should think about addressing while the bodywork is off the bike. Check out the suggestions from our members: GL1500 While the Plastic is Off... "New" GL1100 - What To Look For? GoldwingDocs member bonne in Sweden has always wanted a Goldwing. He has the opportunity to purchase a 1982 GL1100 with only 37,000 miles on it. From the postings on the forum, there are quite a few members, both new and existing, who are thinking about or have purchased a "new to them" Goldwing this spring. Not knowing the bike intimately, he's hoping for some guidance on what to look for when checking out a bike for purchase. Of course our members can help out with that! Are you thinking about a new Goldwing? Or perhaps you have some experience with Goldwings that you could convey to help our members get the best bike for their dollar? Check out "New" 1982 GL1100 Hundreds of Goldwing Parts for Sale The huge number of used (mostly GL1500 and GL1800) parts that I bought a couple of years ago continue to be added to the site for sale. I split my time between photographing and adding new products, and filling the orders that people place. There are still literally hundreds (probably thousands - I haven't even opened all of the boxes yet) more parts that have yet to be added to the site, and I'm working my way through them as I can. So if you are looking for some parts for your Goldwing, check back regularly to see what's been added. You can see the store here: GoldwingDocs New and Used Goldwing Parts Replacement G8MS-H30 Relays for GL1500's Goldwings, particularly GL1500's and GL1800's, are filled to the brim with relays. These electromagnetically-actuated switches are used to switch all kinds of circuits, from headlights to radios to even the starter. However, they are a mechanical device, and after some time they will fail. If one of the many relays in your GL1500 has failed, or if you'd like to have a few on hand to carry around just in case one does (to avoid being stranded!) - and you'd like to take advantage of our quantity purchase, now is the time to buy them for less than half the retail price you'll pay from Honda. Check out our GL1500 relay store page: G8MS-H30 Relays Of course, we still have our other products as well: GL1000/GL1100/GL1200 7 volt regulators, and our ever-popular GL1500/GL1800 GPS Input Devices.

Goldwing GPS Input Device The Goldwing GPS Audio Input Device continues to be far and away the most popular product we have ever offered, and the tons of positive feedback we continue to receive really makes us happy that we're making something that people really like - and use. What is the GPS Audio Input Device? It's an American-made plug-and-play device that lets you hear the audio output of your GPS, cell phone or radar detector over your GL1500 or GL1800 (including F6B) intercom - so that you can hear the spoken instructions from your GPS or cell phone in your headset. It's a simple plug-and-play device that can be installed in minutes, and does not permanently modify any bike wiring. It's been receiving rave reviews - check it out today! Do you already have one of our GPS Input Devices? We've had quite a few people who want to buy a GPS with audio output that they know will work with the GPS Input Device. Take a couple minutes to help out your fellow Goldwingers by posting your GPS make and model on this forum thread. GPS manufacturers don't commonly specify audio output jacks as features, so it can be hard to decide which model of GPS to buy, unless you know beforehand what you're looking for. |

Replacement Goldwing GL1500 G8MS-H30 Relay The Goldwing GL1500 G8MS-H30 Relay is a relay used for quite a few different functions in the GL1500. The GL1500 is filled with relays - there is a box full of them, next to the fuse box! These relays are mechanical devices, and have a limited life. When they do fail, critical systems can be affected, leaving you stranded! It's always a good idea to carry one or two spare relays with you. We have these high-quality relays in stock, at less than half the price that you can buy the equivalent OEM relay from Honda! |

Brand New 7 Volt Regulator for Four Cylinder Wings If you have a GL1000, GL1100 or GL1200 Standard Goldwing with mechanical (not electronic LCD) temperature and fuel gauges, you've had this problem. Or...you will. It's only a matter of time. You'll start noticing thkat your temperature and fuel gauges are reading off the scale - the temperature is in the red, and the fuel shows full. The only thing is, the bike isn't overheating, and you know you've only got a quarter tank left. Or...even worse: your bike is operating normally, and suddenly your temperature and fuel gauges just turn off, and look like the picture to the right. How much fuel have you got left? You'll have to guess! What's causing it? A faulty, worn-out 7 volt voltage regulator. Behind the fuel and temperature gauges is a special voltage regulator that turns your motorcycle's normal 12 volts into the 7 volts on which these two gauges run. When it starts to fail, it typically starts doing so intermittently. Left in a failed state, it can cause damage - allowing a full 12 volts into your temperature and fuel gauges, destroying the delicate coils inside! That gets expensive, requiring the replacement of the entire center gauge cluster! What's the solution? For almost five years, we've been manufacturing a modern, solid-state 7 volt regulator to fix this problem once and for all. Hundreds and hundreds of Goldwing owners all over the world now have operating fuel and temperature gauges thanks to our 7 volt regulator. If you've got this problem - or you know someone who does - check out our 7 Volt Regulator and get it fixed! |
