Holiday Gift Spectacular! Once a year we do a special product review, where we go over all kinds of new, innovative and classic products that you as a motorcyclist will love...and haven't yet discovered that you simply can't live without! This year we've got some really great new products to talk about. We have a forum post with links to all of the products we review, as well as a video that demonstrates each of the product and describes why it's such a great choice for the Goldwing owner. Whether it's for a motorcyclist in your life, or perhaps a gift to yourself, make sure to check out our 2023 Motorcycle Holiday Gift Guide Spectacular! And speaking of gifts - if you plan to do any holiday shopping on Amazon this year, please use our Affiliate Link to do so. It doesn't cost you anything, but we make a few cents on anything you purchase, which goes straight into the upkeep and bills it takes to keep GoldwingDocs going. Just click here to make your Amazon purchase: Amazon GoldwingDocs Affiliate Link Lastly, we have also set up a GoldwingDocs Amazon Accessories Store that has an extensive selection of products selected for Goldwing owners. Everything from parts to chrome to clothing and more. Be sure to check it out! Innovv K6 Action Camera - WIN ONE FREE! If you have been around GoldwingDocs for any amount of time, you'll know that respected dashcam manufacturer Innovv usually sends us their latest and greatest products. In the past, we've featured the Innovv K2, Innovv K5, Innovv H5, and others. These cameras are definitely not the cheap dashcams you see on Amazon: instead, they are high quality, dual-camera setups specifically for motorcycles that mount and integrate with your bike. Now we have their latest camera: the K6. This time it's a universal USB-powered 2K dual camera system. Unlike previous cameras from Innovv, this can be used not just on motorcycles, but pretty much anywhere: bicycles, cars, ATV's, skateboards...I even have one in my airplane! Even bigger news: Innovv has very generously donated a complete Innovv K6 camera system to be this month's contest prize! One lucky GoldwingDocs member will win the Innovv K6 - so make sure you enter early and often! Entering the contest is free and easy: just visit the GoldwingDocs Monthly Contest page. Interested in purchasing the Innovv K6 for yourself? Check out our extensive video review - and don't forget to use our special link and discount code when ordering! Innovv K6 Action Camera Review Winter Arrives! It's that time of year again, old man Winter has arrived in many parts of the country - we got our first dump of snow here in Ohio just a couple of days ago. Don't be like the owner of this poor GL1500 - make sure your bike is prepared for the winter months. There are quite a few things that you need to do to protect your ride - and more importantly, some things that you should NOT do! We have a comprehensive winter preparation guide for Goldwings on the forum, and it includes a video demonstrating everything you should (and shouldn't) do. Think you know it all? How do you keep your exhaust from corroding? What about lubricating the bike during the winter? How about lifting the tires off the ground? So why go through all this trouble? Well, when spring rolls around, your motorcycle wakes up feeling refreshed and ready to hit the road. No dead batteries, no stale fuel, just a smooth start to a new riding season. It's like giving your bike a winter vacation, and it'll thank you for it when it's time to ride again. If you have questions, or need advice from our experts, or just want to make sure that you've done everything you can to make sure your bike is in tip-top condition come Spring, you need to check out: How to Winterize Your Motorcycle An Important Winter Maintenance Task Now that weather is not so conducive to riding, many of our members are embarking on their winter maintenance routines. I always see a surge in GL1500 relay sales this time of year as a result. Why? These relays power everything in the GL1500. The original relays supplied by Honda are the bare minimum to get the job done. After years of heat cycles, they fail - sometimes without warning - and can leave you stranded on the side of the road. Having this happen to me is what started me down on this road. Honda charges almost $30 for their inferior relays - I sourced heavy-duty relays with more than double the rating at less than half the price. Many GL1500 owners choose this time of year to make a clean sweep and replace ALL SEVEN of their original relays - rather than be stranded at some future date. Others decide to buy three or four and carry them - just in case. In either case, now is the perfect time to stock up on our special heavy-duty GL1500 relays: GoldwingDocs GL1500 Relays Purchasing Your First Goldwing Are you on the verge of joining the Goldwing community? Member NotGabe is seeking the wisdom of seasoned bikers in our forum, eager to make the leap into the world of Goldwing motorcycles. He's looking for advice for the purchase of his first Goldwing. He has a couple possible candidates in mind, and would like our opinion. Dive into the discussion where this soon-to-be rider lays out their requirements, preferences, and concerns, asking for invaluable advice from those who've already experienced the joys of cruising on a Goldwing. Think you can help? Check out: First Goldwing Purchase Advice A Sticky Starter Dilemma Facing a common problem, member Ketchupsandwhich has a persistent issue with their Goldwing's starter getting stuck on. No matter what he does, the starter continues to run once the bike starts. This is actually a pretty common (and simple) issue, yet the solution is eluding him. He's outlined the problem and the steps he's taken so far to diagnose and fix it. If you have practical experience or insights into resolving starter problems on Goldwings, your input could be instrumental in helping a fellow rider overcome this mechanical hurdle. If you've been through this or know a thing or two about Goldwing starters, your advice could really help out. Jump into the chat, share what you know, and let's get Ketchupsandwhich back on the road: Sticky Starter Dilemma GL1200 Wiring Nightmare Member Big Trey has a real task on his hand. He has a 1985 GL1200 LTD, and it won't start - just a click. Looking into the wiring, he's found some burned and bare wires. If he gets the engine to spin and introduces some starter fluid, the bike will start up - but not for long. He's posted a long series of photos and our members have stepped up to help him with this extensive project. Think you can help? Check out: GL1200 Wiring Nightmare Bagger Trunk Delete? Member Jeffrey268 saw a picture of a trunk delete kit applied to a GL1500, and he really likes the look. He's thinking he would like to do the same thing to his bike, but he hasn't found any online kits. Some owners have built their own, but he wonders - if you've deleted the trunk, how do you open/unlock the side bags? Our members replied with several different options, including one member who included pictures of his own homemade trunk delete efforts. If you're thinking you might like to transform your GL1500 into a "bagger" because you like the sleeker look, you should check out: Trunk Delete for Bagger Innovative Heat Guard Alternatives The GL1500 engineers had a real problem: packing a large, hot engine into tight bodywork, the engine heat was cooking the carburetors and causing problems with fuel vaporization. Their solution was to put a rubber sheet over the top of the engine, with two holes for the carb runners to go through. The problem is, after all these years, many of these heat shields have deteriorated, and they are no longer available new. Member GD2 was looking for out-of-the-box alternatives that would work, and boy did our members come to his aid! If you're having heat/carb problems on your GL1500, you might need to check out: GL1500 Rubber engine heat guard: Out-of-the-box ideas please What to Do About Rusted Exhaust? GoldwingDocs member BRichard79 pulled the exhaust off his1982 GL1100 Aspencade and immediately it became apparent why his bike had started to sound louder lately: it had rusted right through. Why do exhausts rust? A combination of corrosive exhaust fumes and water vapor cause it to rust from the inside out. He's wondering if this can be saved, or if he should start searching for an alternative - either a used exhaust system, or spend some big bucks on a new aftermarket exhaust? Or can it be saved with some welding? Think you can help? Or maybe you have the same question? Check out: Is This Exhast Repairable? Time for a Hard Inspection or Revision GoldwingDocs member lonerider41life has decided that it's time for a teardown and in-depth inspection of his 1989 GL1500. New brakes, fluids, timing belts, the works. Some of his bodywork is looking pretty dingy and cracked, so part of the revision will be to remove, repair and repaint all of his bodywork. He's detailing the process, and asking for help along the way. If you'd like to see his progress, or perhaps offer some advice, check out: Time for a Hard Inspection or Revision Turn Signal Hyper-Flashing Member toanogreen put a set of TCMT aftermarket turn signals on his 2007 GL1800. These have a curved LED running light and a flashing center component. They've worked great for ages, but recently one of the signals started to "hyper-flash" - flashing very quickly instead of at the normal rate. This is typically cause by not enough load on the turn signal flasher relay, but in this case, all the lights are working - just flashing quickly. He's gone through some diagnostic steps and he's stumped as to what might have happened. Think you might be able to help out? Or maybe you have a mystery hyper-flashing signal you want to fix? Check out: Hyper-Flashing Turn Signal Faulty Aftermarket Speedometer Drives Member redjetty is frustrated. The speedometer drive on his 1987 GL1200 has failed. No problem, he'll just purchase a new one online, right? Not so fast! The new one, made by an aftermarket manufacturer, doesn't fit. The casting is such that it doesn't clear the bolts on the brake rotor. Have you come across problems with aftermarket parts like this? Think you can help him out? Check out: Faulty Aftermarket Speedometer Drive Replacement G8MS-H30 Relays for GL1500's Goldwings, particularly GL1500's and GL1800's, are filled to the brim with relays. These electromagnetically-actuated switches are used to switch all kinds of circuits, from headlights to radios to even the starter. However, they are a mechanical device, and after some time they will fail. If one of the many relays in your GL1500 has failed, or if you'd like to have a few on hand to carry around just in case one does (to avoid being stranded!) - and you'd like to take advantage of our quantity purchase, now is the time to buy them for less than half the retail price you'll pay from Honda. Check out our GL1500 relay store page: G8MS-H30 Relays Of course, we still have our other product as well: GL1000/GL1100/GL1200 7 volt regulators. We are now sold out of our discontinued GPS Inputs, however there are a few still available from other vendors.

Replacement Goldwing GL1500 G8MS-H30 Relay The Goldwing GL1500 G8MS-H30 Relay is a relay used for quite a few different functions in the GL1500. The GL1500 is filled with relays - there is a box full of them, next to the fuse box! These relays are mechanical devices, and have a limited life. When they do fail, critical systems can be affected, leaving you stranded! It's always a good idea to carry one or two spare relays with you. We have these high-quality relays in stock, at less than half the price that you can buy the equivalent OEM relay from Honda! |

Brand New 7 Volt Regulator for Four Cylinder Wings If you have a GL1000, GL1100 or GL1200 Standard Goldwing with mechanical (not electronic LCD) temperature and fuel gauges, you've had this problem. Or...you will. It's only a matter of time. You'll start noticing thkat your temperature and fuel gauges are reading off the scale - the temperature is in the red, and the fuel shows full. The only thing is, the bike isn't overheating, and you know you've only got a quarter tank left. Or...even worse: your bike is operating normally, and suddenly your temperature and fuel gauges just turn off, and look like the picture to the right. How much fuel have you got left? You'll have to guess! What's causing it? A faulty, worn-out 7 volt voltage regulator. Behind the fuel and temperature gauges is a special voltage regulator that turns your motorcycle's normal 12 volts into the 7 volts on which these two gauges run. When it starts to fail, it typically starts doing so intermittently. Left in a failed state, it can cause damage - allowing a full 12 volts into your temperature and fuel gauges, destroying the delicate coils inside! That gets expensive, requiring the replacement of the entire center gauge cluster! What's the solution? For almost five years, we've been manufacturing a modern, solid-state 7 volt regulator to fix this problem once and for all. Hundreds and hundreds of Goldwing owners all over the world now have operating fuel and temperature gauges thanks to our 7 volt regulator. If you've got this problem - or you know someone who does - check out our 7 Volt Regulator and get it fixed! |
