Re: GPS to Intercom on GL1500
I have my old TomTom 720 GPS units still simply because they still have the 3.5mm jack in them. I know some people have purchased a "bluetooth receiver" dongle. They plug the 3.5mm plug into the dongle, and then pair the dongle with their GPS. This lets the GPS still talk over the interco...

Re: Bad ground?
Hi Dave. Long time... I was really hoping you weren't going to say that. I had the tank out once before, what a pita. Am I mis-diagnosing here? Is there something else I should be looking at? The problem comes and goes.

Bad ground?
I seem to have an intermittent issue, and I'm not sure where to start looking. I am hearing some type of interference noise through my headset, when I'm listening to the radio, MP3 player, and/or Intercom. The noise isn't deafening, but I can hear it, sometimes. Other times I don't. I heard it on my...

Re: Antenna tears in motorcycle cover
Is this ripped cover an 1800 problem? I have yet to develop a rip with my 1500 cover after 7 years.??? nope, had the same problem with both of 1500s.... it depends on the quality of the cover purchased. Beverly Bay made 3 layer cover with a heavy "patch' sewn on the areas where the antenna ben...

Re: Seat options for taller guys??
The world was not made for people over about 6 feet tall. Those of us above that height just deal with it (and bang our heads onto a lot of stuff).zeke1883 wrote: (If you are 6'10 I don't see how in the world you would EVER get comfortable on one of these bikes.

Re: Seat options for taller guys??
Hi Rick. Wing Admin sent me an email suggesting that I might be able to answer your question, and as usual, he is correct. I have a 2002 GL1800A, and I am 6'10" tall. I have tackled this very issue, and I believe I have made my bike very well suited for someone of my size. I previously modified...

Re: Fit-Ear custom molded ear plugs
WingAdmin, do the custom molded earplugs allow any sound in, or is it completely quiet? I'm curious if you can still hear the speakers in your helmet for audio and intercom. I know you mentioned they also make another product with speakers built into them with no mic. That seems like a whole lot of ...

Re: Installing a 2006+ heated seat in a pre-2006 GL1800
Nice work, Don. I'm the guy you wrote this article for. I've had a heated aftermarket seat on my 2002 for several years, with no controls to make it work. Now I have the directions. I do suffer from WingAdmin's issue of no spare time, but this seems like a project that may get pushed towards the fro...

Re: The Best (and cheapest) Riding Sunglasses
If you have a US Safety Gear around, they have a pretty nice selection of Safety glasses. I started wearing them several years ago when I, too started looking for the best all around riding glasses. I was impressed with the impact resistant glasses, and they have a lot of different sizes, shapes, an...

Hello Russ, Be aware that you are replying to a 3 year old post.....but everything is pretty much still valid. There are some new LED options out there now. Lewis, I believe, is the owner of The Electrical Connection, http://www.electricalconnection.com/misc/about.htm . They have good stuff there. I...

Re: Seat
Hello Jack, I did what you are trying to do. I had a 1200 and customized the seat myself. It wasn't hard, but I had to fiddle with it to get it right. When I bought my 1800, I bought an aftermarket seat that had the fiddling done for me. I bought a Hartco http://www.hartcoseats.com/HONDA/53/Goldwing...

Re: Electricity 101 Part 3: Using Multimeters
Well done WingAdmin. I particularly enjoyed the statement, "Measuring 200 volts with the meter set to the 0-200mv scale will quickly let the smoke out of the meter, and you'll be off to Harbor Freight for a replacement." I've done that.

Re: GPS to Intercom on GL1500
Well sort of..... The unit piggy-backs into the intercom system so it creates a third party to the system - rider, passenger, and GPS. That way you can play whichever type of music you want and when the nice lady in the GPS needs to tell you to turn, the system mutes the music, you get your directio...

Being pretty inexperienced with cell phones Bluetooth and Wireless FM, I need a little help understanding the advantage of the GPS to INTERCOM device vs. a $15 Wireless FM Transmitter. Re: GPS to Intercom on GL1500
Bluetooth modules (and the controllers required to operate them) are not cheap - I would love to create a Bluetooth version of this device, but I suspect the price would push it up out of the range of what most people would be willing to pay. It probably wouldn't be as out of range as the $600 that...
