Anti-Dive Springs

I finally finished/reinstalled my rebuilt carb and took the wing for the first powered ride around the block. The suspension is pretty rough, and I doubt it has ever been services by the look of things. I'm starting off with full front fork rebuild including the anti-dive system on both sides. I hav...

Re: Carb Jet Holder Trick?

Douse it with a little silicone spray and then pry evenly taking care not to dent bowl gasket surfaces, using a paint stir stick or similar will protect. A word of advice is to replace those 30yr old O-rings and float bowl seals. I'll give that a shot! I've been beginning to wonder if these were th...

Maybe I'm being paranoid, but is there a trick to getting the jet holder off in the carb?

Vacuum Hoses

So looking for new hoses, and trying to figure out which to get. I like the idea of the color ones, but paint marks work good enough I think. Real question is what type are good to use? Rubber or silicone? Can I use 1/8”, 5/32”, 1/4”, etc. or does it have to be the 3.2,4.2,5.8 mm?

Re: Another full choke runner

So I finally got the carbs off the bike yesterday to try to rebuild them. The vacuum lines are not looking the greatest, and I want to just replace as many as I can while the carbs are off. I am finding some difficulty locating the correct size hoses to order... Does anyone know where I can find the...

Another full choke runner

I have a sort of similar problem to RHHarrison in this post . I have a '90 GL1500SE that just recently came into my possession that has been sitting a few years. I could hear it kicking over and was able to adjust the idle knob until it would idle. It has a new fuel filter and a tank full of fresh g...

Re: Only runs with choke open

Curious to know how this turned out? I just picked up a '90 GL1500SE that has a similar problem. Already rebuilt the petcock because it was leaking and it helped. I plan to soak the gas cap this weekend because after running a bit there's quite a vacuum release when opening the tank (1/2 full), but ...
