Re: URGENT: Bike SUDDENLY won't start???????!!!!!!!!

Considering it drained over 3v in 4 days, are there any areas/systems that are more likely than others?
I can't actually think of anything off the top of my head that would drain that much, that fast that wouldn't have an external show to it. (headlight, taillights, etc)

God bless,

~Mark

Re: URGENT: Bike SUDDENLY won't start???????!!!!!!!!

I do have a very good (but old) Fluke DVM.

Do I just check the voltage going across each fuse to see what it's running at? And if it's above 0, then that's my focus area?

Re: URGENT: Bike SUDDENLY won't start???????!!!!!!!!

So you're saying to connect a test light (LED/bulb) to the positive of the battery and then pull fuses out of the block on the other side until it goes out? Sounds interesting... I'll see if I can give that a try this weekend. I do have a CB, although I've never used it. I don't think truckers in So...

Re: URGENT: Bike SUDDENLY won't start???????!!!!!!!!

I managed to get a rope plug set from Amazon and used that to plus the hole in the rear tire. It's holding well so far. I got the fuse block installed and it's working ok for now. I'm not sure how well the solar charger is working... The week that the bike was down with the bad rear tire, the voltag...

Re: URGENT: Bike SUDDENLY won't start???????!!!!!!!!

I picked up a 10wattt charger and a 6-fuse block. But before I could properly install anything and find out just how well it works, Murphy's Law struck again. I noticed with my TPMS that my rear tire was dangerously low. Turns out, there's a bloody nail dead center in tread. It leaks about 10lbs eve...

Re: URGENT: Bike SUDDENLY won't start???????!!!!!!!!

I didn't buy the exact model that was linked in the image, since it didn't have any overcharge protection. I'm probably going to get a Battery Tender Solar module to put in between this and my bike, but I'm going to see how the solar charger I did get works out first. I also finally picked up a 6-fu...

Re: URGENT: Bike SUDDENLY won't start???????!!!!!!!!

This new commute, less than 5 miles, is a definite blessing. But it's definitely having an effect on my poor battery. It started off with it being around 12.3-12.4 in the mornings, by the end of the week, it's down to 12.0, 11.9. It's still starting, thank God. But it definitely needs help. Unfortu...

Re: URGENT: Bike SUDDENLY won't start???????!!!!!!!!

The voltmeter runs directly off the battery.

No on doing a load test. I haven't found anyone nearby willing to do one on a motorcycle that didn't charge a fortune.

Re: URGENT: Bike SUDDENLY won't start???????!!!!!!!!

I don't have any extra lights at all. And I converted the headlights and fog lights to LED so they draw way less power. It is an original OEM alternator (that I know of) but it will get up to 14v at idle. But I'm on the road for only about 10 minutes each way. (to/from work) So far, she hasn't faile...

Re: 99 GL1500 Fairing Crack - Repair???

It's impossible for me to do major repairs or take apart my bike at my new apartment, so I can't do any repairs that involve getting to the 'back' of the fairing. What are the best suggestions for how to resolve it just from the front? Should I just drill a small hole to keep the crack from expandin...

99 GL1500 Fairing Crack - Repair???

I just noticed this massive crack in the fairing on my 99 Goldwing Asp. I've owned it just over a year. I was riding her over 100 miles/day to commute to/from work but I've moved and now that commute is down to less than 5 miles. The bike has never fallen over or been in an accident, so I don't know...

Re: URGENT: Bike SUDDENLY won't start???????!!!!!!!!

I got the new battery.... it was pre-filled this time and pre-charged, unlike the original which had the acid come in a separate container and the battery had to be charged from zero. (obviously) I was actually able to start the bike the instant I had the new battery installed. I charged it anyway, ...

Re: URGENT: Bike SUDDENLY won't start???????!!!!!!!!

Yuasa is being nice enough to send me a replacement battery. Unfortunately, as previously stated, I don't have electricity in my garage, so a battery tender (of any kind) is out of the question. (unless it IS a battery) The LCD voltmeter I have is just some cheap display I got off Wish.com, but I do...

Re: URGENT: Bike SUDDENLY won't start???????!!!!!!!!

Ok. I charged the battery overnight (with a REALLY long extension cord) and the bike started the next morning. And I learned a huge lesson. I thought anything over 12v on my meter meant the battery was fine. Even though this is a new High Performance Yuasa AGM battery from Revzilla in March of 2020....

URGENT: Bike SUDDENLY won't start???????!!!!!!!!

My 99 Aspy has been running great in the year that I've owned her. I've used her to make the massive commute from my home to work every day for the past year. I FINALLY got a new apartment that's less than 5 miles from work. I moved in this weekend. I went and got the bike from my old place on Satur...

For Sale: Cardo Packtalk Bold JBL Headset $150

I have a relatively new (about a year old) Cardo Packtalk Bold JBL headset, complete with all the accessories, original box, etc. that I'm looking to get to a new home. I upgraded to a Sena 50s unit as it works better for my purposes. I never had any problems with the Cardo and the sound quality was...

Re: Android/Bluetooth TPMS?

Thanks. I dug through. Thing is, most of the posts are old, so I was looking for something within the last couple of years as technology has been changing a lot. I definitely didn't want to get something that used an external monitor or FOB like the one I had previously. I'd much rather just be able...

I did. Didn't see any reviews for bluetooth TPMS. Mostly talk about GL1800 TPMS systems.

Android/Bluetooth TPMS?

I was wondering if anyone had any experience with any of the bluetooth TMPS systems out there. The TPMS that came with my bike died and I was looking at new ones and they have ones that work with your smartphone via an Android app and bluetooth. They look halfway decent, but I'm not sure about accur...

Sena 50R vs Packtalk Bold

Does anyone have any experience with the new Sena 50 series? I currently have a Cardo Packtalk Bold JBL installed on my headset but the volume level is lacking at freeway speed. I've heard rumors that the new Sena 50 series is higher volume than previous series. Any experience/reviews out there? God...

Heat Proof Grip Glue

One of the first things I did after I got my 99 Aspencade last year was to put on the Oxford heated grips. I used the grip glue that came with those grips but every time I turn the heat up to its maximum setting, the throttle comes loose. I tried adding a drop or two of super glue, but that didn't m...

Re: EMERGENCY BRAKE PROBLEM

Sorry for the late reply... things have been.... chaotic. I was able to finally re-rebuild the caliper and the seals held this time. I bled the system a few times, including using a new pneumatic bleeder kit. This did make a marked difference in the braking power. It's still not what I would conside...

Re: EMERGENCY BRAKE PROBLEM

It's going to come down to having to push the pistons out, drain the system, pull it off the bike and basically re-do all of the work I just did to "rebuild" it in the first place. My intention was to make it work better and instead it's not working at all. I only used brake fluid to coat ...

Re: EMERGENCY BRAKE PROBLEM

Happy New Year! I bought an air compressor bleeding kit and that worked to get the system depressurized. That's the good news. The bad news is that after pressurizing it, I discovered that one of the new seals I just put into my rebuilt caliper is leaking. My only options (that I can see) right now ...
