Re: 1982 GL1100i Alternator Bolt Broke Off

DenverWinger, when the bolts on mine went backwards I went ahead and replaced the stator but also did the poor boy conversion on mine. I've put about 5,000 mi on my conversion since putting it on, and I love it

Re: 1982 GL1100i Alternator Bolt Broke Off

when you pull the motor, i suggest pulling the rear cover off to check the stator windings. if the magnet rotor moved back into the stator, it could have damaged the stator enough to cause it not to charge any more. for me, it is worth the extra time to check it even if it is not damaged. same thing...

Re: '82 Oddities and Quirks

Thanks Chewy! I really like the blue as well. I got a replacement gasket for the breather box, but wasn't able to find one for the cylinder head to the belt cover. I suppose that doesn't much matter though, as there aren't any belt covers on it anyway. I have them, but can't actually put them on. T...

Re: '82 Oddities and Quirks

the on you are pointing to on your cylinder head is a seal to keep dust and moisture from getting behind the belt covers. the breather box gasket seals against the air filter to keep air contaminates from entering the carbs. btw, that is a beautiful blue color.

Re: 80 GL1100I ACCEL Ignition Coil

i did this mod on my 80 model, and have been pleased ever since. i have put a little over 6k miles on it since then. i did not reuse the old plug boots, just used ones from a set designed for a 1989 ford ranger 2.9 liter v6 engine.

All 1100 have the dog bone fuse. It is next to the battery right side under the plastic lid. Open the lid and you will see it. Usually has a spare one in the lid which is also many years old. #27 in photo https://www.partzilla.com/catalog/honda/motorcycle/1982/gl1100-a-gold-wing/battery Many of the...

Gauge cluster

Will the gauge cluster from a 76 1000 work on a 1980 1100? I mean as far as being bolt-on plug right in everything hooks up the way it should.

When I start the bike the alternator is spinning but no power comes from the alternator. Do I need to also put power to the IG ignistion switch t...
