Re: Special Tools for general/most maintenance?

Trim And Molding Tool Set - Harbor Freight around $10 -- Makes getting panels off without hurting them easier. Not so special, but an Air Compressor is a must have. Lots of metric stuff! and a Luggage Scale - the kind that you lift stuff up with to weigh. And there's more, and more, and …. Ya can't ...

Re: The idiots are out there

I've seen more idiots on the road than I'd like to think about, but my favorite idiot: I was filling up when a * dude * in a BRAND NEW CADDY opened his back door and proceeded to put gas into a Styrofoam cooler. I said "HEY! You can't put gas in that!" Dude looked at me and said "Who the ***...

Re: traffic light stop/wait/go best practice?

I grew up in the 60s on HDs with foot clutches. First a rock and roll then a suicide then back to r&r - so (even now) I never stop with my left foot down, and always stop with the front brake. OTOH - by the time I squeeze the front brake I am hardly moving - not enough to have the front forks dip wh...

Re: Lactrical vs Compufire

There are a couple of posts here about replacing the fuse because of the higher output alternator. DON'T DO IT! The fuse protects the WIRE after it. The available output of the system has nothing to do with fuse size. The fuse is designed to fail BEFORE the wire catches fire. In this case fire is ba...

WHICH HEADLIGHT LEDs?

Changed the eng/trans and rear end oil. New timing belts and coolant too. Next - Headlights... I've been reading good things here about both of these: https://www.cyclemax.com/inc/sdetail/gl1500_led_headlight_bulb_kit/83/302834 and https://www.superbrightleds.com/moreinfo/motorcycle-high-beam-and-lo...

I found a hidden feature

My first day with our Wing we stopped at a friend's and the bike wouldn't start when we were leaving! It turned over fine, but no ignition. Turned out that the Stop/Run/Stop switch wasn't in the Run position... DUH Today I changed the oil and filter and it occurred to me  that I could turn the...

Re: IT'S HERE!

the hearing aid business is a scam... I asked for the software to reprogram them, they refused to let me have it. Isn't the Internet wonderful? There are now sites dedicated to hearing loss and kind folks that will share the programming software with you. My understanding is that for legal reasons ...

I have about $700 in $6000 (new) hearing aids -- I'm frugal (Ok - cheap) and was about sick to loose one... Next project is cheap in...

IT'S HERE!

Picked up my "new" 1995 GL1500 SE about 100 miles from here. My wife and I went in her Rogue to pick it up. I enjoyed the ride home so much that once we got here she picked up her helmet and we put another 100+ on it :D The Wing is Teal and looks GREAT (up close) and had 11,200 miles on it - a bit o...
