Re: Cassette deck keeps trying to eject

Thank you! I'm really interested in just getting it to stop; I don't listen to cassettes, just the radio.

Cassette deck keeps trying to eject

Even with the motorcycle completely off, key out, random sounds from the cassette deck trying to eject something (although no tape is in there). Has anyone experienced this and better yet, resolved it? I have been trying quite a few rule outs but so far to no avail. Thanks much,

Matthew

Re: Backfiring; please help diagnose

Mark, you were right! I had crossed two wires on the lh side. Made those 'great' again, and it was an :D :D instant difference. Good to be back on the road! I REALLY appreciate your help!

Re: Timing Belt issue

I'm having the same, but I'm not sure that I can isolate mine to one side. Are you hearing anything from the carbs (or were you?).

Re: Backfiring; please help diagnose

I did put new plugs in, and I'll go look at the wires, but if I remember correctly the wires are fairly well designated. I'll check that though, anything is better than going back through to the timing (which I swear, looked perfect when I buttoned that up, and the pulleys did not move...). Thank yo...

Backfiring; please help diagnose

Hello everyone! I got my GL1500 (1997) all back together today and all is well except, there's a backfire under a load or when I let off the throttle, and it feels like it is hesitating a bit (not as strong as usual). The history is that I bought this bike about a year and a half ago and proceeded t...

Re: Right Front Heat Shield

Ha ha. I figured it out. It is the heat shield that protects the rear master cylinder from the header/exhaust heat. I'm good to go on this one for now! Thanks you all.

Right Front Heat Shield

Hello. I am putting my GL1500 back together and realized I left the right front heat shield off (see pictures). I'm wondering, if I move forward without putting this part back in, am I going to damage anything? I know that might be a difficult question to answer, but I was interested in your thought...

Re: Exploded Diagrams of takedown?

It is really interesting how the mind works that way. Coincidentally, I used to be a landscaper, and have rebuilt more than a few zero turns. Well, it's going better than I thought. I'm taking my time, but I ran into a snag. I put the of the bike back together (fairings, crash bars, headers etc etc)...

Re: Exploded Diagrams of takedown?

Thank you for sending that. There must be 250,000 parts on this bike!

Exploded Diagrams of takedown?

Hello everyone, and happy Friday! Last summer (yes a year ago) I tore my late 90's GL1500 down primarily to get to the rear brake cylinder to rebuild it. While I was in there, I order other parts to do maintenance and worked around through replacing the timing belts, and even up into the front and w...

Are you referencing the nut where the open/close knob is?

Removing body panel to remove header

Hi folks-I am removing this panel on the right dude, but there’s a cable-controller vent door that is keeping me from getting it completely off. Any tips on how to free that cable up so I can get this panel off?

Re: Cool Trailer -seeking info

Thank you - it sure is solid, and if it is homemade, they did a hell of a job. It is probably too heavy as compared to what you can buy today for a motorcycle. It has the swivel hitch, so I think it was designed for towing behind a motorcycle. I only paid 300 for it, so I figured I'd take a chance, ...

Brake line wrench size

Hello all - I'm doing the dreaded rear master cylinder removal on a GL1500 (1997). I'm working on the top of the cylinder, still in the bike, and I have the banjo fitting off, but the brake line behind that one - the solid line that looks more like a conventional brake line you'd see on a car/truck....

Air hose?

Hello! I’m digging into my GL to rebuild rear brake master cylinder and found this. I don’t see where it connects/what it is for. This bike is new to me and this is my first time going through her. Any help appreciated!

Cool Trailer -seeking info

Picked this up tonight. Can not find a brand name on it but I’m thinking to restore it or use for hunting trailer. Classy look and has swivel hitch. It looks made for gold wings but I’ve no interest in trailering with mine.Anybody have info in this one?
