Re: BikeMP3 Aux Cable Question

Works for me. I had to set the GPS volume to 90% as the static would trigger the audio-mute. Pete has had to struggle with some GPS models that have too low of a volume for their output, it would trigger, just too weak. Also, I think there is an incantation to enable the auxiliary cable which in ess...

Re: CB RADIO SWR ISSUE

5 (above mid-scale) usually signals an open circuit or short circuit in the antenna or cable. Can you get an ohm-meter on the cable to check it out?

I assume you do not need glasses like I do, so it is not 1.5 (below midscale) you are experiencing :-)

Consider a ferrous clamp-on your headphone cable (the part that is on the bike, underneath the left cubby, not your coiled-cord headphone cable). These things are available from Radio Scrap, or from BikeMp3.com

Re: CB radio suggestions for 2012 1800

And I believe the GPS cable option is for a NON OEM GPS, rather than the OEM one (if you have one) If you already have an integrated GPS, then the GPS cable can be used to connect a Phone or bluetooth adapter. There are three 'radio' inputs, they just labeled them CB, FRS and GPS, nothing says you ...

You should have told them to give you your money back. Go off and install a GL2way instead.

Re: CB squelch noise and horn interferance

Turn up the squelch control. This is all 'normal'. If you add ABS, you get a burst every cyclical retrain too.

Re: c.b noise

When you disconnected the audio unit, your squelch memory merely retained by the audio unit went to minimum level. Raise the squelch level until the CB goes quiet. If for some other reason, I will pre-empt and describe below. There is no CB manual. The installation sheet makes passing statements abo...

Re: c.b noise

Check the integrity of the grounding strap to the antenna, as well as the antenna connection. ABS is also a noise source, the sharp bumps are likely triggering it, only thing you can do if this is the source is turn up your squelch ...

Re: using the CB controls on LHB for other purposes

The common for the switches is driven, and is part of a matrix scan under the audio-units control, you can not use them directly and still be wired into the bike, the rattlebars approach (originally pioneered by Fred Harmon) is to remove the factory switches or wiring and replace them with your own....

Re: I want to add a CB

Have personally not used the GL2way, but I have done several antenna installs that plugged in to the system .. SWR could be set but best Power out for this unit was a little over 2 watts .. The OEM CB doubles that and the modulation is better than the OEM system .. Until this GL2way can increase it...

How so? The GL2way is an identical plug-n-play OEM design with many more features for a lower price. With thousands of them out there (actually stalling sales of the OEM), these units have developed a substantial following of happy customers.

Anti Dive zero chance of affecting steering in this manner.

Any of the cables leading off the handlebars sticking, or a bad stem bearing are the likeliest of causes.

Re: CB Radio GL 1800

If squelch can not take it out of the condition, then the only possible causes can be electronic lockup internal to the CB (disconnect battery for a couple of minutes, reconnect), low battery (but the problem would not be consistent) or bad CB (water ingress?). If the problem persists after disconne...

'04, not triked or any other modifications, left side hotter, no doubt. I have a Second degree (superficial partial thickness) burn to my left leg to prove it. Likely all from the heated air blasting out between the cover and the frame; the burn is positioned at the gap and extending slightly higher...

Re: Computer display went black when riding?

Plug under panel is not clear enough IMHO. There are two multipin plugs to the Audio Unit, both need to be completely seated. One should look at the connectors themselves, for a bent or damaged pin can lead to this problem as well. An intermittent fuse can also lead to this, I had one with a mechani...

Re: Voice Activated Microphone

+1 on Mic Mutes. Adjust the mic sensitivity on your Audio Unit, the Bike has it's own Voice Activation circuit for the Intercom. Decrease sensitivity until the VOX is not triggered. You still get some noise, but then you can also adjust the Intercom gain for that until you find a comfortable comprom...

Re: Programming the CB

You did not mention which CB you had installed. The OEM CB has no programming. The competitively priced more-capable GL2way CB has programming instructions. Tune your SWR, channel, squelch and volume and go. The GL2way programming instructions follow (without permission). The tables do not translate...

Re: Aftermarket CB

I have not been able to set my swr account I am afraid to key mike due to the loud noise. Catch 22 sir, a BAD SWR will result in stronger incursions of the RF paths into the wiring causing output to the speakers, detected by the microphone, feeding into the CB. You could first focus on the DC resis...

Re: Aftermarket CB

If the howl is occurring when your CB is in receive or off, you have entered a twilight zone. You have cross-wired audio-in, audio-out or microphone connections on the bike; or have a serious case of audio-ground-loop requiring isolation. Are you sure the CB is not permanently transmitting from some...
