Re: How Has COVID-19 Affected Your Riding?

The virus hasn't slowed us down at all but the weather has it is supposed to get down to freezing tonight and only in the upper 30's tomorrow. When we ride now we stop at restaurants with take out and a lawn and trees and have a picnic lunch like when we were younger. The virus will not make me scar...

Re: Madstad Windshield and LED Lights

I got t-boned by a guy that had been arrested for drunk driving three times, best part being this happened when he was leaving a beer distributor with 10 cases of beer he then walked away from the accident and the police found him later in the VFW drunk. I later found out they left him back out of j...

Re: Hello fellow wingers

As all the others have said riding slow with a passenger is the hardest part. I wou!d recommend practicing at slow speed in a parking lot until you both feel comfortable and then and only then go out on the streets. Once you are on the road you will wonder why you didn't do this before. My wife is t...

Re: Do you wear your " Helmet "

I have been down twice at speed, drunk pulled out in front me while I was doing 50 threw the bike away, head hit the driver door so hard it broke the window slid under the truck and about 30 yards up the road. Helmet saved my life had slight road rash and a sore neck went to work next day. I feel Go...

Re: Goldwing Wannabes

As for Goldwing wannabees, I rode HD back in the day before the GW was ever invented, rode Brit bikes in the time of Lucas (Prince of darkness) you young guys might want to ask you dads about Lucas. All I have to say is you ride a wing or you wish you did. It is not what you ride but that you ride. ...

Re: Goldwing Wannabes

I think that you should get comfortable on the bike first, find a large parking lot and practice slow rideing. Have your wife follow you after you are comfortable with the bike at slow speeds have your wife climb on board ride straight across the lot and stop have her dismount. This may sound dumb b...

It sounds like a clogged jet to me also, need to be choked to idle shows a lean id!e mixture as others have mentioned make sure all passages in the carb body are open, I had to soak the carbs on my daughter 's 550 for a couple of days and still had to clean with a torch cleaning wire. Afterword the ...

I am sorry that I did not pull the manual and recited all the steps as I was just trying to answer a member's question. I know I am new to this wrenching thing as I only have over 50 years doing it. Sorry if I offended you.

Re: 2003 GL1800A Service Manual; Valve clearence check / adjust

I found on mine that chain tension doesn't seem to matter on checking the clearance, but if adjustment is necessary then I would slack off on chain, I think Honda put this in so the mechanics did not miss a step and try to adjust with the chain tight. I found in the automotive business the manuals ar...

Re: Valve adjustment necessary at 51000 miles?

I would suggest that you wait until the Honda recommended service mileage to have them checked as I have found that certain dealers use this ploy to get extra dollars for work not done, I have a friend that asked how often I checked my valves and I told him every 32,000 like Honda recommended he sai...

I have used Castrol in all my cars and bikes for over 40 years and never had a problem, I have built both street and race engines for over 50 years. Race engines are torn down every so often depending on how it is used and I have never found one lubrication issue with Castrol. I have seen various st...

Well I am 69 going on 16 and I can tell you that Honda builds the best bikes out there. Re: Questions regarding "older" men and Goldwings

I am looking at 62 way in the rear view mirror and just got rid of a Vulcan 900 that was tougher to ride then my 1800 and as far as slowing down the wing made me speed up cause this girl can dance, Mom has to keep telling me to slow down. I found the 1800 to be easier to handle at slow speed than th...

I rode for years with 4 other guys at first we all rode HD's, I aS the first to take the plunge and buy a bike other than from the ( Company). Within 2 years all of us had changed brands, got sick and tired of wrenching instead of riding. When I rode HD wherever I rode I had to return the same way t...

Re: Please tell who or what made you buy a Goldwing

All I have to say why did you buy a Goldwing, walk around and look at the total package. Why did you buy a Goldwing just sit on the seat. Why did you buy a Goldwing just ride it. Bonus question. Have your better half sit on it and explain to her all the options. That is why you bought a Goldwing. Pl...
