Re: How to change your radio lights to LEDs

I think those would work well if you can find a way to mount them to the board and solder in place. Thy would likely not fit in the existing socket without modification.

Re: Timing belt cover gasket leak ?

The seals/gaskets on the timing covers are there only to keep dust out. Behind those covers are cam seals, crank seal oil pressure sending unit to name a few. If it’s from the left side the left cam seal would be the first thing I would look at. Be sure you are familiar with timing belt replacement ...

I’ve used them a couple of times with very good results. Quick service and responses to my questions. They generally don’t sell OEM parts but their aftermarket stuff is ok.

#4 the level tube is a common point of failure. It dry rots form age. It is inserted into the tank first then the nylon tube which expands the rubber and keeps it tight in the tank.

Re: Highway Peg ID, 2000 GL1500

This style was also used early on for the 1800 as well. Kyriakyn changed the design and made an upgrade kit for the 1800. I do not know if the newer style will fit on the 1500. Their web site did not list one for the 1500.

Re: Cruise control

Check for vacuum at the control valve. I had same symptoms and found the vacuum supply hose pinched closed under the air cleaner lower housing. Electrically ok but no vacuum available to supply the servo.

Re: Weird starting issue

Something to check, if a float is sticking It could be draining into a cylinder while parked. When you try to start it it will turn about a revolution and stop as the liquid is non compressible (hydraulic locked). Waiting a while might slowly allow the liquid past the rings an it might turn over. If...

Thanks for the updates. Thank God the rear drive didn’t fail completely while you were riding. Glad you got it sorted.

Re: ECM

Good day everyone, I am working on a 1997 gl1500 and according to the service manual, the ECM is bad. Checked with Honda and they are no longer available. Does anyone know of a rebuilder of this type ECM? Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks. ECM failures on the GL1500 are almost unheard of. I...

Re: Left turn signal only comes on when forks are turned left

Check the position switch at the bottom of the self-cancelling unit (located in the steering head). It has a thin metal lever attached to the frame and sometimes gets knocked off the sensor switch.

Re: MAJOR short circuit

Looking at the photo of the brushes. It appears both brushes are in the holder. I see what appears to be a foreign object thin copper strip embedded in the holder. Did something else come apart and cause the failure? Maybe a slip ring or bearing?

Re: Any Valkyrie owners out there?

Near as I can tell the TPS is used on many models. The problem is none of them are US models. Only Europe and Australia. Probably an emissions requirement. Just my speculation but on Carbureted vehicles Honda (cars) has used a similar TPS signal to cut off fuel under deceleration above a certain RPM...

Re: tire machine adapter

The adapters I have for the mayflower tire mounting machine are like the ones in the Amazon link above. They have nylon covers for the jaws so they don’t scratch the rim. They allow an increase or deacrase of 2” so I can fit 12” - 21” rims. The adapters also raise the MC wheel up so the jaws will cl...

Is the OP referring to a Tire Mounting adapter or a Spin Balancer adapter? He used the word "spin" in the original post. The Mayflower dynamic spin balancer I have offers an adapter to use with MC wheels. http://mayflowertools.com/ http://mayflowertools.com/product/new-mayflower-motorcycle...

Right Rear Air Shock-- Does it have a Spring

2000 GL1500 SE. I have removed the rear shocks to replace the upper bushings. I have the air shock mounted in a vice and it just moves up an down freely like an air piston. I will pump air out of the hose attachment and if I close off that port the shock will resist being compressed. Is this thing j...
