Re: Push Button for storage

Cut a key down, mount in bottle cap or matching radio knob and boom, your in on the fly.

I have done this with all my wings, no need to take key out (or shut down electronics ) at gas stops either.

Re: 77 gl 1000 upgrades??

Lose the points, and put in a Dyna. Set it and forget it. No more split timing twice and season. Maybe upgrade the coils and wires. Good tires and ride it like you stole it.

Will fit fine. full dress or naked. Some of the 83 dresser stuff is longer, cause they moved the top box back to give some more passenger room. But on a standard you will be fine.

Re: 1980 Goldwing interstate

You can turn the engine over by hand, Remove the cover bolt on the rear of the alternator, 17mm I think, and it will let you see a 12mm bolt that holds the stator in place. If you take the spark plugs out it will make your job easier. You may turn this ONLY clockwise to turn the engine over by hand ...

Re: Can the 83 GL1100 headlight be upgraded?

Yes sir, I understand that the upgrade is wrong, I was just putting out that I have done it and not had any problems as of yet. These things are our babies, and we treat them as such. I check for trouble, wireing or fuel or just a grease or two each time I change oil. These borads are for informatio...

Re: Can the 83 GL1100 headlight be upgraded?

On my 82 Interstate, I just took the factory H4 out rated at 55/60 and put in a H7, for off road use only    . Its rated at 60/100 watts, eight or nine years into the test, without any wiring problems or failures.

Re: timing belts

Are you sure of your line up, did you check for the T-1 mark in the timing window, you can line up crank and cam and still be 180 out as the crank spins twice for each cam turn. Just a thought

Re: Hello All - New Member and New Owner

Any bike that is new to me, I would change the timing belts first, then head for the carbs. Seafoam works great, and should help with "old gas troubles" that you might have. At http://www.randakks.com there is a very good list of what to do to wake these old girls up from a long nap.
