Anti Dive - and Fork springs Question

My 98 1500SE it has the anti dive on both forks. However it is only working when I use the brake pedal (so the left side is working?). When I only use the hand brake I can significantly bounce the front forks (when parked in the garage). Is there anything I should check or do? I was going to replace...

Re: 99 GL1500 Fairing Crack - Repair???

Totally understand being at an appartment. You can get that piece off in less than 30min with a philips screwdriver and whatever you need to take your seat off. Then stick everything back on without fastening everything (at least temporarily) so it doesnt look like it's being "worked on" a...

Re: Progressive 416 shocks no more -- Harley shocks? Car shocks?

I would not be surprised if you could find monroe shocks that will work. I know on the Honda VTX there are a number of people who use their air shocks to build a system. I "think" the use a shock listed for a Corvette. Definitally keep us updated. I would like to know for the future. Also ...

Re: Master cylinder cleanout

Quite some time ago I purchased a vacuum pump for bleeding brakes and I use that to get most of the old fluid out and then a rag or shop towel etc. For the $20 or so the vacuum pump has been invaluable for a variety of jobs.

Spark Plug Heat Range?

I am replacing the plugs in my 98 GL1500. I am going to go with the equivalent iridium. (I know the stock do work well) My question - Do I go with the colder plug or stick with the standard? I have done a lot of reading and besides sticking with the ngk not a lot of info about the heat range on the ...

Re: Passenger pocket doors...

I made some cables with wire fishing leader for my side panels. I will have to do it for the doors too.

Also just saw that the little metal spring needed to be bent out slightly to better hold the latch. It was not even touching the back side of the latch.

Passenger pocket doors...

I have seen a number of people looking for "missing" pocket doors recently.

Any recommendations to keep from losing them?

Re: URGENT: Bike SUDDENLY won't start???????!!!!!!!!

You can always take the battery in to an auto parts store and have it load tested, it can let you know of a cell is going bad. If you have a usb port (cell phone charger) that is direct wired will also draw power. I have had that run down a battery over the course of 2 weeks enough to not turn the b...

Re: Odometer reading slowly working

Once you remove the plastic cover and the 2 screws on either side of the speedometer cable connection the speedometer comes right out. Yes it is decently sealed but there was dust etc in mine and I could see a little bit of grit OR the grease getting stiff and slowing the movement. In the link I pos...

Re: Odometer reading slowly working

Although it takes some work to get to it is very accessible to be able to get to the back of the speedometer and clean it like you are talking about. After seeing the back of the speedometer I could see how it could be gunked up and not run correctly. If you take a look at the directions for changin...

Re: While the plastic is off...

While the plastic is off..... Think about adding any electrical accessories etc. you may want. So much easier to run wires and such with it all off. I ran an SAE plug to the trunk, passenger pocket and left front pocket. That way I could add phone chargers, hookups for other accessories, battery ten...

Antenna removal from bracket

Will the upright of the antenna remove from the braket? Is it screwed on? (The piece circled in the pic off of the bracket) I would like to replace it with a short antenna that doesnt come much above the rear speakers. I really dont use the radio much but would like to retain the functionality. And ...

Re: Carb Questions - still

Thank you!!! It had looked like I was getting equal atomized gas from both main jets previously. Some carb cleaner in the right spot and flus...

took it for another ride with air box off etc. Slow roll of the throttle: keep it under 2000rpm it will pick up speed and accelerate ok. when taking it above 2000rpm it dies out and boggs very bad until it gets above 3000rpm (if I can get it past there). A squirt of carb cleaner when it is bogging i...

Re: Carb Questions - still

Here is a video I just made. I did try squirting a little carb cleaner when it was bogging. I could not tell any difference when I gave it a very small shot of it. I am about out so need to get some more and do it while on the road so I can better tell what's happening to be sure it is not making it...

It will idle down to 450-500rpm before stumbling (the bottom line on the tach). When the carbs were out I had synched them on the bench and once running an hooked up to the gauges. Re: Carb Questions - still

Carb slides were sticking closed, not moving or moving very minimal. RPM - while going down the road it does good from 800 (idle) to about 1250 or so. from 1500 to 3000rpm is the "dead zone". It does run but no power, bogs down, not enough to die but will not pick up any speed and with a s...
