Re: Q for all bikes (speedo cable).
Is the speedo head free?
Many years miles and bikes, can only think of a cable maybe 2 that broke.

Getting ready to go back together. Smoothed out the copper rings, new brushes, bearings, seal and drive cushions.
Does anybody have the torque for the drive cushions mount nut?

Re: Just Bought a Goldwing!!!
I'm too cheap to replace a perfectly good tire. But if you change it. I run a 195/55 run flat, seems to be the best for me. There is a certain order of installation required to get in there but they fit with about a 1/4" clearance on the right side. If you do use a 195 I posted the assembly ord...

Re: 5-th speed
Our 1500s are beautiful bikes but agricultural transmissions. Worst shifting bike I've ever owned in almost 60 years of riding.
I'll be interested if you split the cases as 5th can be vague at times on my '89 too.

Re: Alternator disassembly
On my last trip my alternator stopped working, I rode 200 miles with the help of a friend who gave me power from his motorcycle battery for 20 minutes and we rode 40 or 50 miles after removing the fuses to turn off all the lights. I got home and sent it to a specialist to repair it, they replaced t...

Re: Alternator disassembly
Guess it's a good time to be pulling to this apart.
Drive side bearing is noisey
Drive cushions sound like ABS when hit against anything.
Brushes are wore down pretty good.
Little bearing sounds/feels ok but while I'm in here it's retiring out too.

Good luck on your quest to find the right bike,, but. I live in the Kootenays of BC just off hwy 3. The valleys will be ok mid March on but the passes will be touch n go. If you do make the ride out be sure to allow down time waiting for snow clearing and melt plus many times it stays frozen in the ...

Re: '96 GL1500 leaked coolant when parked
I had a leak at the front of the motor. First thing I found was a loose hose clamp on the thermostat housing,, win! cheap fix.
Not do fast,, still leaking,, turned out to be a warped plastic!! thermostat housing.

Riding seasons end for me.
Out for my last ride of the season today. 200-250 miles, spent time cruzin the back roads of Trail BC, up to Rossland, Castlegar and home. Few pics, the river is the Columbia looking to the US border south of Trail, the red trees are in Rossland the hometown of world famous skier Nancy Greene. The h...

Re: Darkside List: Which tires fit which model Goldwing
Hey Ram, if it was on the ground I could probably get it on the Cstand but the only time it's on the Cstand is when it's on the lift and that creates challenge so I park the rear wheel on a 3/4 piece of plywood, still a challenge but doable for me. As far as fitment I've had a cheap 195/60 and anoth...

Re: Darkside List: Which tires fit which model Goldwing
Posted earlier that I mounted used Bridgestone Driveguard 195/55 runflat but only had a few miles on it at time of posting. Since then have put several hundred miles on it at 35 psi and must say,, so far best Darkside I've been on. Feel a bit of uneven pavement at slow speed and truck ruts in the pa...

I didnt read that anything was tried with fork oil or tire air pressure.
Have you considered a different weight fork oil or a test ride with no oil?
