Some times it works, some times it doesn't. Glad it worked for you. I tried it and ended up rebuilding the carbs. Wouldn't hurt to sync them again.

Yup - Got mine on Amazon Replaced a few weeks ago. Fit fine. Not a very difficult job. Plenty of how-to info available here and on YouTube

Like the previous reply - Carb jets. Then - make sure you sync the carbs. Makes a huge difference and needs to be done after re-building or cleaning the carbs on these old bikes.

Idler pulleys were okay. Cleaned them up a bit. Bearing that they turn on was okay too. I marked inside the timing belt cover with a Sharpie the date and mileage that I changed them.

I used automotive rubbing compound and a shop rag. A little moistness on the rag and just used my three fingers wrapped around the rag with some rubbing compound. Brought up the shine from the aluminum and took out blemishes and discoloring on my '82 Goldwing. Try it!

So, the need to keep these fine machines running now takes on a new meaning. Keep those Wings rolling!

For you guys with the Vetter fairings - I have a Vetter on my '82 GL1100 - how the !#@^& do you get that bulb out to change it???

The Vetter fairing on my '82 GL1100 had a broken mounting hole and a split in the fairing base from vibration I suspect. I mended the crack with 2-part epoxy and used a slightly oversized fender washer to re-attach the fairing to the mounting bracket. Seems to be holding up well. I'll snap a picture...

My favorite part of doing the carbs on my GL1100 was getting the *&^%! throttle cable re-connected!

That's not the issue. Original cable was just old so I replaced it. Installed new one and it came out of the hub. Went to re-install and the cable end broke off when I was installing it. New one works fine.

Received the replacement OEM from Partzilla. Fits like a charm. On a side note - I have to say something nice about Sabre Cycle. Told them about the speedometer cable that failed. Yep, think you're right - OEM is the way to go. Ordered from Partzilla - cost a bit more but I think it's worth it too.

When I got my '82 GL1100 there was only one key. Went around to find somewhere I could get the only key I have duplicated. HomeDepot, Lowes, Local hardware store, Ace Hardware, etc. No one was able to duplicate the key for my GoldWing. So I ordered a blank key from Amazon. I didn't notice when I ord...

Duh! RTFM - I didn't. Once I put in the little adjuster valves and adjusted them the shaking needles settled down.
