Re: SeaFoam -
Some times it works, some times it doesn't. Glad it worked for you. I tried it and ended up rebuilding the carbs. Wouldn't hurt to sync them again.
Good luck,
Greg.

Yup - Got mine on Amazon Replaced a few weeks ago. Fit fine. Not a very difficult job. Plenty of how-to info available here and on YouTube

Like the previous reply - Carb jets. Then - make sure you sync the carbs. Makes a huge difference and needs to be done after re-building or cleaning the carbs on these old bikes.

Re: GL1100 Timing Belts - Wuz it or Wuzn't they replaced?
Idler pulleys were okay. Cleaned them up a bit. Bearing that they turn on was okay too. I marked inside the timing belt cover with a Sharpie the date and mileage that I changed them.
Thanks for asking

GL1100 Timing Belts - Wuz it or Wuzn't they replaced?
The timeless question regarding old GoldWings. Have the timing belts been replaced? If so, when? A question that we all should ask. I asked the question and decided to just do it. I got the belts at the local NAPA store. Proceeded to start the job. Was able to remove the timing belt cover without ta...

Re: Polish front fork lowers
I used automotive rubbing compound and a shop rag. A little moistness on the rag and just used my three fingers wrapped around the rag with some rubbing compound. Brought up the shine from the aluminum and took out blemishes and discoloring on my '82 Goldwing. Try it!

Re: Fairing Disassembly - Inner Shell from Outer Shell - Possible?
The Vetter fairing on my '82 GL1100 had a broken mounting hole and a split in the fairing base from vibration I suspect. I mended the crack with 2-part epoxy and used a slightly oversized fender washer to re-attach the fairing to the mounting bracket. Seems to be holding up well. I'll snap a picture...

That's not the issue. Original cable was just old so I replaced it. Installed new one and it came out of the hub. Went to re-install and the cable end broke off when I was installing it. New one works fine.

Re: Speedometer Cable Woes
Received the replacement OEM from Partzilla. Fits like a charm. On a side note - I have to say something nice about Sabre Cycle. Told them about the speedometer cable that failed. They sent a replacement to me without hesitation and without me asking. So, just want to be fair and say that Sabre Cycl...

Yep, think you're right - OEM is the way to go. Ordered from Partzilla - cost a bit more but I think it's worth it too.
Thanks!

Speedometer Cable Woes
Bought a new speedometer cable from Sabre Cycle (bad idea, I know) It broke. (surprised?) Want to replace it with a quality speedo cable. Anyone have any suggestions? I have been looking at Niche speedometer cable on Amazon - It says it will fit my 1982 GL1100 but the pictures don't look right. The ...

Headlight Relay - Intermittent 1982 GL1100
My 1982 GL1000 that I am finishing up rebuild on has an intermittent headlight issue. Sometimes it comes on, other times it doesn't. When I turn the ignition key on I hear a click-click. Sometimes the headlight illuminates. Other times it doesn't. I removed and replaced the Vetter fairing and notice...

Key Blanks for GL1100 (HD74) and others too
When I got my '82 GL1100 there was only one key. Went around to find somewhere I could get the only key I have duplicated. HomeDepot, Lowes, Local hardware store, Ace Hardware, etc. No one was able to duplicate the key for my GoldWing. So I ordered a blank key from Amazon. I didn't notice when I ord...

Anyone know where I can get replacements for my turn signal and stoplight lenses? These are KG bags on a 1982 GL1100 that I am rebuilding. I have been looking around but can't find anything.

Duh! RTFM - I didn't. Once I put in the little adjuster valves and adjusted them the shaking needles settled down.
My bad.
