Rear Shock scenarios
Okay, I have read many posts on the dilemma around rear shocks. Back story... got a 95 with 26k on it, got it running nicely. Put about 8k on it so far, drove down the Baja recently and had the air ride give out for most of trip. I probably have 800 miles of driving in this condition. Once at home a...

Located in Tucson at a friend's of mine independent motorcycle repair facility. Bee Mer Werx, 520-975-5594 . There are keys and a clear title. Re: Help with a vacuum leak
So....here I am many weeks later and here are some updates. I managed to get to bottom of engine bay and sound up replacing a lot of coolant hoses and vacuum lines. Coolant lines got traditional coolant hoses while the vacuum ones got silicone lines. Found the remains of a dead mouse in engine bay a...

Re: Help with a vacuum leak
Did the easy petcock rebuild. Looked way down in the engine bay...I can see 6 rubber hoses coming off intake and 4 (?) chrome looking pipes ( I'll just say at the 4 corners of engine bay). These chrome pipes have o-rings under them ( from what I can see on parts diagrams I look at ) and then there a...

Re: Help with a vacuum leak
Thanks for replies. I did see a petcock rebuild kit in box that manual and a few. other assorted items that came with bike, easy enough to do. Yea, a 2 second blast ( at best- maybe it was a second) however I wasn't even thinking a vacuum leak would be discovered, just cleaning some goo off engine a...

Re: idler remote adjustment
Just an odd thought. I removed my carbs this afternoon. When I read your post, I remembered that my idle adjust knob was difficult to turn, so I looked. The cable has a metal ferrule crimped on the end of it where it engages the cam mechanism for idle adjust. It was bent like 30 degrees.... no wonde...

Help with a vacuum leak
I just recently acquired a 94 with 28K on the clock. I knew there would be some issues to deal with for a bike with low miles at this age. When I drove it home, I noticed the fuel gauge had dropped noticeably on a 45 mile drive, I didn't drive it after that due to the front tire being extremely wore...

Perhaps a little bit of both. I find it to be quite entertaining...enough to do it again this coming June!

New to me 94 and first G/W
Hello to all! I recently acquired a low mileage 94 G/W 1500 SE. Going through some basic new to me service items, fluids, filters, front tire. Also did timing belts and fork seals so now that is over and done with. How long do you go between belt changes? I'll look around on site and see if I can co...
