Not sure if you have it over there but everyone here uses Dupli Color high temp engine paint. #1615 aluminum.

Carbs being out of sync will cause the primary chain to clatter at idle. Will smooth out as you increase rpms.

Re: Struggling with carb3/plug3

"Compression on all 3 cylinders is 105". What about the 4th cylinder? 105 is extremely low. 170ish is optimal and 140 is the need to service point. GLs are capable of running with even lower compression but 105 I would be very concerned about.

Re: Tulsa extra-tall windshield mounting

Probably doesn't matter now but the reason the Tulsa won't adjust is because it is a much thicker material than oem. Hardware clamps down tight. Besides with a shield that tall 1 1/2 inch up or down won't make much difference anyway. I love my extra tall. Never had a problem of any kind.

Yes the temp will rise at high speeds and this is because the coolant is taking the heat from the heads like regular anti freeze can't do, The reg anti freeze scalds away from the hot head there for it's not getting hotter because it's not doing it's job where as the Evans is taking that heat in th...

Re: HUNTING IDLE, DEAD SPOT OFF IDLE

There is also a vacuum line under the rubber mat that causes a surge at idle and off idle hesitation. It is a 90 degree bend hose that breaks down at the bend. Carbs have to be pulled to get to it. Very common problem with the 1500.

Re: New Member, COOLING FAN advice please

If you short across the fan switch and both fans work every time then there is a problem with the switch. Probably dirty or corroded contacts providing only enough current flow to run one fan consistently.

A Goldwing with Vetter equipment, well, looks like a Goldwing with Vetter equipment. To my eye it just looks very odd compared to OEM. Like they just don't fit together. JMHO.

On the 1500 there are a couple of tubes with plugs down by the alternator that need draining on a regular basis. Have you done this?

Re: Wants to fall over when slow turning or stopping.

It seems to be just the nature of the beast regarding the gl1500. It handles like a pig at slow speeds. I seriously doubt if your tires are at fault. What Az1800 suggests is a good method for handling at slow speeds. Practice using the friction zone.

The brackets are capable of being tightened down to at least 1/4 inch off line. You just have to adjust as necessary.

Ok thank you! I will check all of the wires and try it see if I can find anything. Could this be a sign the the electronic ignition is going out?

Common problem with Dyna ignitions. Not going out but GONE out on one module.

There is a diode between the start button and the kill switch. Might be your problem. I'm not sure of it's physical location.
