Re: Carburetor problems

You say you rebuilt the carbs. Please elaborate on the rebuild. Did you separate the carbs from the plenum and also split the plenum during rebuild? Or? There are passages thru the plenum supplying fuel to the carbs. Famous last words: "I rebuilt the carbs". Here is a tutorial on rebuildin...

Re: Brake fluid change video

Question: What size are the speed bleeders for the 1500? It's time for my brakes to be serviced. Depends on the year. If you plan to keep the bike, I would go with the stainless steel ($15 ea), the standard are $7 ea. They have them for the brakes and the clutch slave cylinder. http://speedbleeder....

Re: Brake fluid change video

I'm trying to not have bad thoughts about the flat black paint and the rivets. I guess it's a GOTHWing. Nice, direct video, well done. He does the same thing that I do -- put the stuff I don't often need in the left saddlebox And it shows how much work I avoided by installing Speed Bleeders when I ...

Re: For those runnin Dunlop E4's. Do you have a radial on the back

Mine are bias ply. Which is what Honda recommends for the 1500. I love them and have no negatives to report. The first tire I have ran that didn't cup at the edges.

Re: Carb clean solution

I have used a cleaner/degreaser called Krud Kutter that works well. 50/50 mix. A little pricey at $20 a gallon but it does work. Ditto on the volatile solutions. The HF cleaner has a heater included so not good.

Re: Few questions

Okay! First you have the air filter out and the cover open which means you will get the noise you hear. Second your idle is way to high, lower the idle to 750rpm and you will hear much less noise.

Re: '95 Hidden Gas Leak?

When I had to rebuild my carbs it was because the float bowl gaskets were leaking. Since your bike has been sitting for a while any of the fuel related gaskets could have dried out. Good luck!

Re: Timing Goldwing GL1000

I purchased a 1976 Goldwing GL1000 with 80K on the clock a couple of years ago. It was in miserable shape, At least pull the covers and take a look. I hope in those 2 years you haven"t been running the engine. If you want to do, at minimum a 2 valve replacement, run your bike with the same &qu...

Re: 1998 GL1500 vacuum line replacement hose sizes?

Here is a thread from another fourum. It shows the sizes and appx. amount to purchase. Lengths are in bulk. Vacuum hose is relatively cheap so any left over won't matter much. Good luck.

My 93 spits out moisture on first start but no carbon. You may be running a little rich. Might want to check your plugs.

Re: Fork Seals Will Not Seat - 1978 GL1000

I didn't use a slide hammer. I cut a piece of white pvc pipe that fit the outside rim of the seal. Then just tapped it in. By the way that wasn't my video. Happened to find it on youtube. Oh, a little lube on the rim of the seal helps.

Yes that would be your problem. Spring/open side of any oil seal is always toward the oil you are trying to seal.

Regarding your pictures... the 3rd pic down is where the reserve lighting unit has been removed and jumpers installed to override the unit. Not likely to be causing your problem.

Re: Which Gasket do I need?

That is the rear engine cover gasket. If that is where it is actually leaking, the engine will have to be pulled to replace. Good luck! You might try and re-torqueing the bolts as was suggested.
