Re: Gl1000 clutch hang up
The plates were new. EBC if I recall. Oil is 10/30. Cable now adjusted to spec. First 1000 miles she operated just fine. This occurred after sitting all winter.

Gl1000 clutch hang up
2 years ago I replaced the clutch assembly. Admitted I don't ride this bike all that often. Couple of weeks ago I started her and the clutch wouldn't disingauge. I read here how to rev the engine and hit the rear brake. Okay all is good. Not. That works but after 30 seconds with the bike in gear and...

Re: Older Goldwing carbs
What is it that you have? I have experience with all of the above. Especially the gl1000, gl1100. I have rebuilt carbs on all of the above. Probably a dozen 1000s and 3 or 4 1100s. PM me if you want to discuss this further.

Re: Older Goldwing carbs
As far as I know there isn't a shop that is proficient in working on gl carbs. Owners of older wings are going to be out of luck here in Okc without GW Enterprises. I first did business with Bart back in the 80s.

The pin on the reverse handle that engages the linkage could be bent. Common problem. Remove the handle to check.

Re: How to remove seized reservoir screws
I'm in agreement with almost all of the vid. What I question is the premise that the rubber seal will compress and ease screw removal when a clamp is used. The seal is on the inside of the metal housing and cover. When the screws are tightened the "cover" compresses the seal until the cove...

Re: Polished my lower fork legs
I polished the forks, timing covers, valve covers and carb tops 18 years ago. No clear coat. I go over once or twice a year with Turtle Wax. Actually gets better with age. Have to say though that I don't ride her in winter. (no

My first thought is the slave cylinder needs to be removed, and serviced. That's a common problem with the symptoms you describe. read this "How to".

Re: Cold Idle tuning
the enricher circuit is what most people refer to as the choke. it is not a choke, as it does not choke anything. it enriches (makes run rich) when you move the "choke lever" and this allows the engine to have enough fuel to warm up at a higher idle to come up to operating temperature. th...

Re: coating on intakes
I rebuilt my 76 17 years and 50k miles ago. one of the rebuilding steps was to polish the carb intakes, valve covers, timing covers and front forks. I don't remember why but the intakes I clear coated all the rest I only polished. Now after 17 years the valve covers etc. look great. While the intake...

I abree with Lab3. No way I would drain or run the carbs dry. Stabalizer, run until it gets into the carbs, let sit. What ever method you choose use a stabalizer.

I mentioned this on the other site however: If the bike has a Dyna type ignition it has gl1000 heads also. With the 1000 carbs and heads you shouldn't have a problem.

Re: Issue with my 96 Honda Goldwing
Before you go spending a bunch of money next time you ride it loosen the fuel cap and see if the problem still occurs. The vented cap can get clogged up and cause the exact symptoms.

How hard is it? Depends on your skills. Read thru this how to and decide for yourself. The tooth picks are only masking the real problem which is probably, as previously stated, the vacuum hoses under the carbs.

Re: Austone Taxi Tire
I tried that fold-over for the whole rear of the motorcycle one time . It does give you great access to everything on the rear end for maintenance. The problem I had was getting it back in place. Those bottom tabs that are supposed to slide over the bolts at the bottom were a bear to get back in po...
