OEM Tool Tray

The tool tray on my '76 is cracked on the bottom. Probably too much stuff tucked in there. Does anyone know whether it is made of ABS plastic like the body panels? I'm thinking yes, but I thought I would check with the experts here.

Re: GL 1000 Single Carb Conversion

This old fogey is curious. Let us know how it runs and how the fuel mileage compares with stock, if you care to measure it. Thx either way, and enjoy.

Re: Just a color question

How long have you had this bike? I appears to me that there are some mismatches with pieces/parts. The seat color does not match the shelter top or trunk backrest. The rotor covers are from later models. And I always thought the trunk and 'tank' sides on the SEs also had/have the accent panels. But ...

Re: Hello! New member and a few questions

I ended up in the Ann Arbor area. Bit too busy for my liking but had to go where the work was. Similar situation here. The Wife's lifelong goal was to be near our daughter and eventual family when she retired (not to say I don't enjoy our grandsons). Our daughter moved out here, married and started...

Re: Hello! New member and a few questions

I lived near Waverly & St Joe in Delta Twp. After I retired from IT mgmt with the State, I drove for FedEx Home Delivery for several years to get out of the house  , covering your boss's area. Small world. Where in SE MI? Generally speaking.

Re: Hello! New member and a few questions

You won't be disappointed. Where did you live there? Most of my family and friends are still in the Lansing area. My bike lives at my brother's in Eaton Rapids. PM me if you'd like.

Re: Hello! New member and a few questions

Regarding the valve covers, just strip the clear coat, buff the covers to your satisfaction and wax the heck out of them. You may end up doing a light rebuff and re-wax once a year going forward. Replace the gasket as you see fit. You will be doing this work while the bike is on the center stand, so...

Re: 1993 goldwing radio

When you 'fix it', where are you tapping? When it clears up when you tap: If a knob on the radio it may be an internal issue. If the radio itself, it might be that the main cable going into the radio is loose, or the connections need cleaning, as mentioned above. But the symptoms hint that the mute ...

Re: Electric fuel pump conversion??

Have you checked to see if anyone has done such a conversion on a gl1000? Check out the sections below for the gl1000, gl1100 and even the gl1200 series Wings. The 1200s I believe came with electric but I don't believe the OEM 1200 pumps are available any more so owners have been forced to improvise...

Re: Dyna Alternative?

I would buy one of the DS1-1 clones and a set of DC1-1 coil clones to go with it. With this combo you can get rid of the condensers and the ballast resistor. Look on eBay for these two part numbers and you will see them. You can get the DS1-3 for about $50.00 and the coils for about $22.00 each. I ...

Used those cards for Fortran and Cobol at Lowell Tech. We even had a Wang "Calculator" that was the size of a baby grand piano. I also ran a UNIVAC computer for the Army back in '69-70. It all fit in one room. 🤣 But when we had to sort a tape file we had to run a tape to card utility, sor...

Re: My Aspencade, i washed it, now it won't start

I have experienced this a number of times, and had to let it sit and dry out for a bit. Now, I start the bike and let it idle while I give it a 'quick' wash. It seems I have read elsewhere on here that engaging the reverse lever and returning it to normal once or twice helps. Give it a try and let u...

A Little Humor At USPS's Expense

I ordered a 7v regulator from this site and had it shipped to my brother's place in Michigan. OH to MI 'next door'. It was shipped as PRIORITY MAIL. 😈

IMHO, a Fram oil filter would work for your flushing operation(s), but from what I recall from other posts on this site I would recommend OEM or other filters going forward. Just sayin'.
