Re: Riding in hot weather

I'll be happy to share some of the 43C we're having right now with ya...
Perhaps just a tad hot. Anything over 21c has me in a glow. I am waiting for this Covid nonsense to be over so I can head south to Spain or Portugal.

I hope you are all safe over there.

Re: Riding in hot weather

Can only dream of hot weather here. Mid-afternoon and the temp is 13c (55F). They are saying that the temps might hit the dizzying heights of 19c on Sunday.

Re: 2nd Amendment

My mother used to wax lyrical about the powdered egg which was sent over from Canada and the US in the Second World War. "Made wonderful cakes" she always used to say.

Re: Antifreeze

My answer is, no, I haven't used this. It should be ok but you never know. It is a lot easier, though usually a little more expensive, to buy a motorcycle specific coolant. Given that coolant should last a few years, the additional costs involved become negligible.

I looked at the Sig M17 9mm, but it is such a ghastly shade of diarrhoea brown that I decided not to buy and stick with my St Christopher medal.

Have to say, watching WingAdmin's video did remind me of Mary Poppin's magic bag scene. I was waiting for him to pull out a standard lamp or a very large plant.

Re: New video: What's in your bike?

Well that is one very big list! Would love to see some pics of how you manage to squeeze that lot in and still have room for items that you require for your trip - clothes etc. Not that I am doubting you, just interested to see how you do it. Apart from the GW's own tool box, some tyre sealant, a pa...

Re: The Magic Is Gone!

About this time two years ago I decided to sell my Wing. Some health problems made it a beast to heave around when I wasn't actually riding it. However, I was disappointed in the offers received for what is a very low mileage, and very good condition machine. So I didn't sell it and now I am very pl...

Re: Buying vs. Selling

From my personal perspective - and I realise that a lot of folk will hold different opinions, which I respect, I could never see the point of a trike. It seems to have all the disadvantages of a car and all the disadvantages of a motorcycle. I can appreciate that if an individual has mobility proble...

About the only time my horn gets used is the annual road worthiness test, to make sure it actually functions. Practically, the only time you hear a horn in the UK is when someone vents his or her frustration at another's driving.

Elaborate, if you will.
"Pants" here usually refer to underwear and mostly commonly, ladies underwear.

I must average three pheasants a year - the most stupid animals in the kingdom. Not managed a deer yet in spite of them leaping out of bushes at me with regular monotony.

Re: First post lockdown run

Soooo,... do Brit bikes have the throttle on the left handle? Nope, bikes are exactly the same as any other country. But obviously cars/trucks etc have the steering wheel on the right side - you change gear with your left hand (they are mainly stick shift). The pedals are the same, just on the righ...

But Brett! BRETT!!! You're gonna kill someone driving on the wrong side of the road like that!!!  I have had a couple of close calls in France and spain. Unlike cars (well hire cars), there are no visual clues on my bike to remind me to drive on the right. When I hire a car in Europe the...

Re: First post lockdown run

I do quite enjoy riding through bends on the GL1500 but later when I did the same road on my Suzuki it felt so much better. And if I lean the Goldwing too far, it grounds which I find very disconcerting. Going out on these roads on Sunday after lockdown was perhaps with hindsight, not a good idea. T...

First post lockdown run

Today I went for the first longish ride since the ridiculous lockdown began over six weeks ago. I like my Goldwing but it isn’t built for small winding country roads. This is really the first proper ride of the season and I have got used to my Suzuki V-Strom which handles like a dream. I found mysel...

This chap uses steam to clean the interiors of the filthiest cars - often stolen recovered.
