Re: From a Wing to a Burgman?

When I was having back, shoulder and leg problems (managed to get them all at the same time) I felt my motorcycle days were finished and I found myself a 650 Burgman. It was pre-owned but only had 49 miles on the clock when I bought it, so I had to run it in as it was practically a new machine. Firs...

Re: TT time again!

Ice cream parlors don't serve sprinkles, because if they fall on the floor, customers might slip and fall. One locality in the UK banned the use of welcome mats because they are a "fire risk." Sandboxes in playgrounds are gone, because they might have broken glass in them. University graduates are ...

Re: TT time again!

I n my opinion, the UK's absolute religious OBSESSION with "health and safety" I have to agree with you but it is not governmental interference which is behind this (there is a bit admittadly) but the more insidious threat of litigation, a phenomenon imported from the US a few decades ago and now ap...

2 Bulls are colour blind to red.
Well I tested a local member of the species with an Ishihara plate which any non-colour blind individual could see had a numeral seven on it, and the cow just gave me a baleful stare and wandered off. How much more science do you need?

commentors in favour of the event
1 It is from the BBC, an organisation which makes Pravda look balanced, so I won't bother thanks.

Re: TT time again!

And as far as cats go.... you are sick. I hope you choke on the next one you eat then you can become a sick-tistic! Unlike much of Europe there is no actual law against eating cats in the UK - provided they are your own and not the woman's **** living next door. Cat still appears on Christmas menus...

Re: TT time again!

what's with the 'Challenger' bit in your name?
Brett Challenger is the hero of my book which I never actually got round to writing. He was a sort of mix of Simon Templar, Biggles and Clive of India.

Re: TT time again!

Wow, I really set the cat among the pigeons with that one!
Shooting pigeons has been banned in the UK, thanks to the odious Chris Packham. And personally, I would like to see cats banned - ghastly creatures.

Re: TT time again!

Well you are entitled to your opinion and I respect it, it is clear you have strong feelings regarding this matter. I am also sympathetic if you have been personally touched by a motor sport tragedy. However, banning things is a slippery slope to take. There have been calls to ban many sports over t...

Re: footwear

These are the ones I use. They are German. Mine are now 20 years old and so well worn in, but despite the gear change pad (plastic) disintegrating a few years ago, they still function very well and are supremely comfortable.

I think she looks rather better than I did on my Burgman. I could never get used to not having a clutch to pull in when coming to a stop or needing very low speed.

Re: Video: How to get a Goldwing on and off the center stand

One of my bikes is a Jawa 350, a relatively light weight 2-stroke. It is quite a pull to get thing on its centre stand, and certainly is much harder than my gl1500 which is a beautifully balanced machine.

Lamar looks delightful. I suspect it would be too hot for me, though I expect it is much cooler there by the sea, than inland. Certainly true here, there is a North Easterly blowing off the North Sea today and it is really very chilly.

I must admit that when people on here do give their home town info, I sometimes have a ride round the streets using "Street View" on Google Earth. Nothing sinister, just interested in looking at other places. Sadly, I don't think I will ever be visiting Rockport, Texas in the flesh, though it does s...

Re: A new bike...

getting used to no tank to straddle I bought a Burgman 650 (essentially the same as a 450 in size) in 2017. My first impressions was really positive but I just couldn't get used to having nothing between my legs. You simply sit on a Burgman - in fact all scooters but you sit in a motorcycle and bec...
