Re: Feed back through speaker when using Freewire

I will try the foil and see what happens. I do have a question, when installing the CB the installation instructions had us put a Ferrite on the rear headset plug wire but not on the front. I'm not sure I know what a Ferrite does but shouldn't there be one on the front Headset plug wire as well? Th...

Re: Tachometer gauge not working

If the regulator is bad the symptoms are the electric gauges will go to either full-scale or zero, and stay there. So most likely your regulator is OK. You might try taking the fuel sender out of the tank and soaking it overnight in vinegar to dissolve the rust and corrosion, that would likely fix ...

Re: Arai Signet-X Helmet

Thanks for another good review. I have a Quantum II that is getting long in the tooth. I have been looking and trying to figure out what would be the appropriate Arai with the same head shape. I found a Signet X (my size is 2XL), but had a little pressure on the sides. I was wondering if the Quantu...

Re: Feed back through speaker when using Freewire

It sounds like the Freewire, or more likely, the wires hooking the Freewire in place, are not adequately shielded. It's acting as an antenna, and when you transmit with 4 watts of power only a few feet away, it's injecting that power into the unit and feeding it through the speakers as a result. Mak...

Re: 2018 Goldwing DCT Tour Brake Issue

Yes. But as soon as the bike moves forward it bottoms out again OK, so it sounds like whatever is causing this problem is forcing the pistons to retract more than they should. Anything that moves the caliper laterally on its slides will cause this to happen. I would have a very careful look at the ...

Re: 2018 Goldwing DCT Tour Brake Issue

I put the centramatic balancers on my new Goldwing DCT Tour. I had to remove the calipers and wheel in order to do so. After I reinstalled everything now my brakes are acting weird. I have pressure when I am at the stopped position. But as soon as I take off and need to stop, the brake lever damn n...

Re: GL 1500 low idle and rough running

The little knurled knob inside the gas cap seems to be stuck. It seems to just turn the hosing and housing. I assume I'll have to clean it and grease it somehow and then see if I can get an adjustment. Mine does the same thing, and it works just fine. All it consists of is a curved connection to th...

Make sure you do the physiotherapy religiously. You will get there.
I second this. I used to blow off physiotherapy, but after they managed to cure something in a few weeks that had been a problem for over a year, I'm now a total convert and believer!

Re: Another Headlight Question

Sorry if this might be considered a hijack, but I have been under the impression (rumor?) that the 1500 was designed for 55/60 bulbs, and were equipped with them on European models, but that US units were for some reason delivered with 45/45s. Is this not true? I have used 55/60s in my 94A (bought ...

Re: Starting issue, grinding?

You might also want to have a look at the planetary gears on the starter. Often when they are worn, the starter will run perfectly fine when removed, but when put under load of cranking the engine, they will skip and slip.

Re: Hoses connected to air box

When the engine is running, particularly when under heavy load (hard acceleration), you get blow-by - combustion gases that make their way past the piston rings and into the crankcase. This would pressurize the crankcase and blow out seals, so they have a crankcase ventilation system to let these ga...

Thanks wing admin! Do you recommend the 13" ride height for rear shocks? Do you have any recommendations for the front fork suspension? I've seen on a few videos that the clymer book suggests a non-air ride front suspension if the bike is going to use a side car. I'm not using a side car, but I'm i...

Re: How to rebuild your front brake calipers

My brake retainer pins are stuck. Any tips on how to get them to budge. (this is on a system that has been dry from brake fluid for years) For whatever reason, those pins tend to bulge over time, making them very hard to remove. You could try using a hammer and punch to push them out. I ended up us...

That looks great, like it came from the factory that way! It wouldn't work on an Aspy with CB, as that blank spot is where the voltmeter goes: maxresdefault.jpg I had mine attached to the handlebars (seen in the picture), as that was the only place I could find a good spot. I used a U-bolt and some ...

Re: UNOBTAINIUM 2.0 PANEL 83160-MN5-XXX (Firecreek style)

The good news is it takes the readings from the "Always Hot" lead and NOT the Accessory Power lead, which means you can connect "Always Hot" directly to the battery to get a true reading of the voltage right at the battery, regardless of the voltage on the accessory terminals. Of course you meant "...

Re: Re-installing front brake calipers after wheel removal. Won't go back on!

Actually, it's always a good idea to open the bleeders before pushing the pistons back into the calipers. Otherwise, you are pushing the dirty, contaminated fluid (gravity pulls all the sediment and filth down into the caliper) back up to the master cylinder, where it WILL block the return port. Bet...

Re: Has anyone on this forum ever actually had a OEM timing belt failure on GL1100?

It would likely take me a while to find the posts, but if my dusty memory serves, we've had around 5-6 members on the site who have had them break (and wrote about it), and as mentioned, the damage is generally extensive enough that it's cheaper to replace the engine.
