Sometimes there's just nothing you can do...
I came across this video. It's a GL1800 Airbag with an Innovv camera on the fairing, just like mine. Riding in the rain at night, a driver makes an illegal left turn in front of him. I don't know that I could offer anything that I would have done differently to avoid this. x0NIqFiNbVc Here's what he...

Re: Clutch stuck OPEN not engaged
Ouch. Yeah, RTV is nasty like that. When I replaced the cam plugs on my wife's PC800, you had to RTV the valve covers back on, and you better believe I spent a lot of time making sure there was JUST enough RTV in there to seal, and nothing more. All it takes is one bit of RTV clogging an oil passage...

Looks like someone else found the vein: https://www.voromv.com/2015/08/jiangsu-xinri-ofrecera-la-copia-pirata.html Well THAT was an interesting read! The Chinese will copy anything! They even have copies of Rolls Royce's and Bentley's driving around! I remember when that was first announced, it was...

Re: 2nd Ride Engine Issues/Noises
It's not YouTube, it's the site - I never wrote the code to handle YouTube shorts. :) In any case, that's not a healthy noise. Almost sounds like valve-hitting-piston kind of noise. When was the last time the timing belts were changed on this bike? A 1991 with only 10,000 miles has spent a LOT of it...

Re: Front Brakes, fully rebuilt no pressure.
Are you getting air bubbles when you vacuum bleed, that might indicate a hose is leaking? That said, if a hose was leaking, you probably would see brake fluid weeping.
Also, try pumping the brake lever WHILE you vacuum bleed, to dislodge any air bubbles that might be in there.

Re: Bad Gas after 1 1/2 months?
Gas won't go bad that quickly.
I would first try some Seafoam in the gasoline, just to see if there might be a deposit that needs to be cleared out.

Re: New H4 LED Headlight
One thing I noticed with my 1100 is that even with incredibly bright bulbs, I still was having trouble getting a lot of light out the front of it. Once I looked closer, I realized that the reflective surface on the inside back of the headlight had gone dull, and in some parts even started to flake a...

A couple more details - membership has dropped from a high of 82,000 members to only 10,000, which is why the organization is no longer sustainable. Next month will be the last time Wing World is published, and the shut down will occur at the end of this year. Insurance services will continue until ...

Re: 1983 GL1100 Aspencade front brake pads
The front master is a 16mm from a VFR750. All the lines are new braided, so no bulging.. When I pull the front with moderate force, I have a firm lever +- 1" from the bar. If I do a full on hard pull, I can almost get the lever to about +- 1/2" from the bar. This all stems from a incident...

Re: 1983 GL1100 Aspencade brake rotors
What material are the brake rotors made out of? I'm trying to decide on if I want to go full sintered or semi-sintered pads. I currently have organic pads on there and they just don't have enough grab (bite), even with a nice firm lever and pedal. But understanding that the Aspencade's front rotors...

Lithium Sulfur batteries might be just the ticket for an electric Wing. That is if it can move from the lab to the factory floor. https://drexel.edu/news/archive/2022/february/lithium-sulfur-cathode-carbonate-electrolyte Yes, I read this a couple of weeks ago. It's amazing, and just what the electr...

I have to say, I'm not entirely surprised by this. With the poor quality of management that took over a few years back, it was only a matter of time. They made some REALLY poor decisions, and did not plan well for the future. I hadn't made this information public before, but with the demise of GWRRA...

Re: synchronizing carbs
When the bike's fan comes on, it adds electrical load, which will slow down the engine, which will affect the vacuum readings that you're trying to match. So you use an external fan to blow through the radiator to keep the bike cool, and prevent it from turning on its own fan.

No, the "cancelled" is just a stamp I used on the thumbnail. I couldn't find a "discontinued" stamp image to use.

Thanks guys. Realistically, I've never used it much so I wasn't aware of the smoke issue. Got the timing belts done but had a time of it. The pulse generators were glued to the block due to over use of thread sealer at the factory. I followed wingadmins article. It was a very good tutorial. Thanks!...
