Re: synchronizing carbs
When the bike's fan comes on, it adds electrical load, which will slow down the engine, which will affect the vacuum readings that you're trying to match. So you use an external fan to blow through the radiator to keep the bike cool, and prevent it from turning on its own fan.

No, the "cancelled" is just a stamp I used on the thumbnail. I couldn't find a "discontinued" stamp image to use.

Re: Revival of a '96 Wing that has been sitting for 7 years.
Thanks guys. Realistically, I've never used it much so I wasn't aware of the smoke issue. Got the timing belts done but had a time of it. The pulse generators were glued to the block due to over use of thread sealer at the factory. I followed wingadmins article. It was a very good tutorial. Thanks!...

Re: Improper Oil for 1989 1500
Nothing improper about the oil you picked. A 15w-40 oil is readily pumpable well below freezing temps, so for the majority of riders it will work for most all riding seasons. Rotella T4 15w-40 is used by many as motorcycle oil with no issues. Diesel oils in general work well in shared sump motorcyc...

This thread is way off track, and veering into politics, which is guaranteed to end in a flame war (it always does). No more political posts on this thread please, or the thread ends.

Re: Breaking News: Honda Discontinues the Goldwing!?!
So doesn't sound like ALL the Goldwings...just some. I suspect this might mean the non-DCT Wings will go away. Why would the DCT goldwings have lower emissions than those with manual transmissions? One of the ways manufacturers are modifying vehicles to get around the Euro 5 standard is by increasi...

Re: Locked up brakes, crane strap location?
Take the seat off and the inner steering covers. Strap on both sides of the frame, right behind the crosspiece in front of the trunk, as well as around the steering head. You can safely lift the bike that way.

The fuel system currently has about 2 gals of gas with an entire bottle of Sea Foam added. am also getting what smells to be oil smoke out of both exhausts. My guess here is you are smelling Seafoam instead of oil, That's a REALLY strong mix you have there. Try to ease open the throttle with choke ...

i've never owned a front wheel drive vehicle, i've driven a few and personally i don't think they are any better in snow than a RWD vehicle FWD offers WAY better traction in snow than RWD, as you have the weight of the engine over the wheels. I've owned three RWD cars, about twelve or thirteen FWD ...

It's not new news - the Euro emissions standards are VERY strict, and automakers are also having to closely examine and revisit their plans.

Aw that's terrible news Stuart! Here's hope you heal back to normal soon. I will advise you: once the cast comes off, do the PT!!! It's hard, it hurts, you won't want to, but from personal experience, it is better than having the long term pain and dysfunction if you don't do it.

Nope. I would not. Not only are they hard and subject to failure, but the amount of traction has seriously diminished.
