Re: GL1500 Auxiliary Shifter Pivot
Hi, can you give a hint where I should buy the gear shifter pivot? There are really many of them in the ebay, all from China. They are quite cheap. Then in the CycleMax there is also the pivot for sale, but it´s much more expensive. I quess it´s better quality material. Do you know any other places...

Re: Installing accessories on the handlebars
Be sure to replace the nylon spacers that Ram-Mount supplies with metal ones. Here we install custom made black ones instead. As time goes on, if you use the nylon ones, then continue to compress and eventually will cause the m/c to rock when being used. I had completely forgotten about that until ...

I would pull the covers off the right side of the bike and see if you can localize the buzzing sound.

Re: Installing accessories on the handlebars
What I use is a reservoir-fastened RAM mount . You remove the two machine screws fastening either the left or right clutch or brake reservoir to the handlebar, and replace them with the machine screws supplied with this mount, fastening the mount in place at the same time. Then you can clamp any RAM...

Re: Voltmeter or Ammeter?
An ammeter certainly can be a nice piece of equipment. A direct current ammeter needs to be installed so that all current flows through it. A simplistic description is placing it in line between the battery and the battery cable. Since you want to see it from the riding position, you will need to m...

Re: Riding Glove Shopping
I used to go through a pair of summer gloves EVERY year. That is, until I tried out the Rev'It Sand 3 gloves. Best gloves I've ever had, they're now five years old and show only the slightest amount of wear. So comfortable that I wear them even when it's really too cold for them. They are discontinu...

Re: Handlebars hitting windshield
It depends on the windshield. With my Tulsa Tall windshield, which is taller, wider and raked back more than OEM, the handlebars DO contact it at full lock in either direction - and that's with the handlebars correctly adjusted.

Re: Are onboard GPS units worth it?
That's totally outside the scope of this specific thread, but to briefly respond - no, CB's are worthless -unless - you are riding along with a group of other CB owners. As far as the general chit-chat of old, it no longer exists...unless you speak Spanish, that is. 8-) Maybe down there in Arizona,...

Re: Air shock cylinder scratches - is it done for?
If the scratches are deep, you can do a rehab using J-B Weld . You mix up the J-B Weld, and work it into the scratch as well as you can. Wait for it to cure, then use a fine abrasive like emery paper or 1500 grit sandpaper to polish back to the chrome again. This leaves the chrome shiny and clean, a...

I too have been using Avons almost exclusively for many years. They're great tires, hold and handle well, and last a long time.

Re: 2013 Stereo Volume
Does the radio maintain its memory presets when the bike is shut off? If the radio battery backup fuse is blown, it can cause limiting of maximum sound output levels.

Re: New ECM and Fuel Pump
I have a 1993 GL1500 Aspencade. After riding 300-400 miles in a day with a group… the next day it would only die after starting. I just put a new fuel pump in the bike from Allballsracing prior to the big ride. After diagnosing that the fuel pump had no power I realized the ecm went bad. I have ord...

Re: Inner Wire Ring Retaining Clip Removal
Yes, have the bike on the center stand so there is no weight on the front wheel, then push the seal down. It helps to have a flat blade screwdriver as well to hold the other end of the retaining clip, otherwise you just end up spinning it around and around in its channel. The trick is to get one end...

Re: Electrical relays
Scott (GoldWing Doc Admin) continues to mention electrical relays for sale for the 1500. I'm curious whether the 1800 (2008) have these same relays and would it be a good idea to keep a few of these relays onboard as spares? It seems the relays Scott sells are a much better relay than OEM No, the G...

Re: 1999 1500 with sidecar
You will likely not experience a straight/smooth ride with any rig of any kind. Based on the dynamics of the road the bike always tends to pull one way or the other. you just have to find a happy medium. I always drove mine with the idea of letting a thoroughbread run. loose hands and if it wiggles...

Check the antenna cable. If it has come disconnected, you will see exactly the symptoms you're experiencing.

Re: Reverse not engaging
Definitely check that the lever is seated fully back. When the reverse switches start to fail, the main symptom is that the reverse handle has to be FIRMLY pulled back in order for it to engage.

Re: Overpants
I've been wearing Olympia gear for years. I have their AirGlide overpants. They have solid Cordura where it counts (seat, knees, hips, etc) and mesh panels everywhere else. Extremely durable, mine are many years old, and still work like new. I like the big thigh pockets, too. They also have waterpro...
