Re: Aging Bikers are 3 times more likley to go down!??

My old statistics prof used to say that if you torture the data long enough they will give you the answer you want. Lies, damned lies, and statistics.

Re: Road service

Thanks, dingdong and Oldsmores.guys. Esurance doesn't write in Massachusetts, but the site referred me to Progressive, which does. Good Sams Club is another good possibility. I'll check out those leads.

Road service

Is there a company that provides emergency road service -- towing, dead battery, out of gas, etc. -- for bikes? Something similar to AAA?

I like the quote from Satchel Paige, the great pitcher in the Negro League. He said, "How old would you be if you didn't know how old you was?"

Re: First ride of the year

My annual ritual on the first day of spring is to register and insure my Wing and then take it to work. No way this year with 3 inches of snow on the ground and more coming. Looking forward to my first ride of the season -- up to P-town via the back roads, through the National Seashore on roads that...

Awhile back someone posted about the benefits of Pledge for taking the scratches out of windshields. Might work in your case, but no promises.

Re: children

One of my neighbors called me Peter Pan because I ride a big bike and, he says, I refuse to "grow up." If I called him a curmudgeon, he would have to go and look it up. But I refuse to grow old gracefully. I'm going to be kicking and screaming every inch of the way. Age is a number, and an irrelevan...

WARNING! Stupid question alert! Is the Seafoam you put into your crankcase also a fuel stabilizer? If not, what do you use?

Re: car tire on a 99 gl1500se

Why would one want to use a car tire on a bike? Aren't they entirely different? Tread design, construction, front vs. rear, etc. Not trying to be a smartass, asking out of ignorance.

Re: 1999 1500 SE Fuel gauge problem

This may be a common problem because it's the same with my 97 wing. The owner's manual says that the tank capacity is about 7 gallons, yet when the gauge read empty, I filled it up with about 3.5. I don't like running the gauge below empty because I'm reluctant to trust an idiot light on a 13-year-o...

How to winterize a GL1500

I'm putting my bike away for the winter from about Thanksgiving to the middle of March. What do I need to do beside fill up the tank and add stabilizer? Does the oil need to be stabilized or drained? I know the battery should come out and go on a trickle charge. Anything else?

Sticking buttons

The buttons on my cruise control and four-way flasher often stick in the on (pushed in) position. Can I free them with a little WD-40 or is it more involved than that? My bike is a 97 GL1500 SE.

Re: registering bike has'nt been registered since 2002

Just a guess -- You probably have to get the name of the last registered owner and have him release the title. If he doesn't have the document, you will need to produce a bill of sale from him and possibly a notarized affidavit. If the last "owner" told you to f***off, you probably have to go throug...

Re: Accessories you had to have

Speaking only from lack of experience -- I got my Wing in May -- I question the wisdom of putting a radio on a bike. How would you hear it through a full-face or 3/4 helmet? Even if you could hear it over the engine, road and traffic noise, wouldn't it be a distraction from closely monitoring the tr...

Re: Anyone near Cape Cod?

I'm in West Barnstable and the Goldwing you saw isn't the one I bought. I've had mine since May and I haven't had a chance to ride much so I'm still getting used to handling a much bigger bike. Coming from a Harley you shouldn't have that problem. My old ride was a CB900F -- a sport/touring bike -- ...
