Re: Front end noise louder(revisited)

A recording of the sound would help. Take a video of it, post it on YouTube and post the link here.

To verify if it is cause from aftermarket stuff, remove it all and see if the noise can be reproduced.

Re: 2001 GL1800 CB Radio handlebar controls issue

Unless the switch assembly is disassembled and the CB switches lubed from the inside, squirting from the outside does nothing. Your CB controls are probably not working because of lack of use. The best thing you can do with them is to try moving them in the direction that they don't work 100 times. ...

Re: beeping sound in headset

Like keyboard says. You might be hearing the ABS system doing its self check. However, I would call it a screech and not a beep. If you put a timer on it, it will be very consistent, and you should be able to feel a slight "click feel" in both the rear brake, and hand brake levers. To feel that, you...

Re: speaker covers

Does anyone have a sure-fire method for keeping the speaker covers on the instrument panel from coming dis-lodged? I've lost three of them so far and am tired of replacing them. It usually happens after hitting a sharp bump. Sure would appreciate some good ideas. Has the meter panel been painted, o...

Re: how do you change fork oil

It is probably best to remove the forks. The forks are refilled fully collapsed with the springs removed. The 5" is from the top of the tube. On the right fork, when filling collapse the damper rod too.

It is probably part of your TPMS (tire pressure management system). I think that one should come on during a self check when first starting.

Re: shock upgrade

I have an 03 GL1800 and would like to upgrade the rear shock, I was planning on a progressive spring but I found a shock from a trike conversion for short money. The shock is off a 2014 wing and has 26 miles on it. I thought I had read somewhere that around 2012 the wing shocks were upgraded . I wa...

Although the alarm/call red button on the remote never worked, I found out a good but noisy way to have an alert if someone open the motorcycle trunk. Unfortunately that is uasually my wife or I. Anyway, will replace some wires temporarily until I can locate a new harness. Regards, Once it is all r...

Have a 2004 1800 Had a rumbling noise from clutch and was told by 4 Honda mechanics that at 153K it was to be expected. Re: chattering noise on deceleration

Seems to me you should rule out the driveline before going the expensive route. I agree ... especially since it's a MotorTrike. They've gone through decades of driveline issues ... plus if one of their drivelines goes bad, it can often damage to the frame, as well as the output shaft to the transmi...

Re: chattering noise on deceleration

It's likely that you may have a serious transmission problem. If so, that repair is extremely expensive ... as in thousands of $$$. Just so you know, I do more GL1800 transmission repair than probably any shop in the world. When you say shift plate, at first I was confused, but I think I know what t...

Re: Trunk running/turn signal bulb.. 2 acorn nuts keep turning

Unfortunately that's been a known issue on earlier 5th gens. The nuts were over tightened at the factory, and the studs became loose when trying to remove the assembly to replace a bulb. Under some conditions Honda was correcting the issue with new lamp assemblies. Unfortunately I'm not sure what th...

Re: GL1800 chattering rear brake

The rear brake chatter is very elusive. No matter how a 5th gen is bled, it still remains an elusive problem, and many, even after they think it is fix it will later find out that their issue is still there. As you have stated, it is a hot climate problem. There is only one correction for the rear b...

Does the FI light come on while riding ??? Have you checked the coolant level under the radiator cap ???

In either case, you will want to pull the DTC codes. Do you have a Service Manual ???
