Re: Foot warmer cable

Thank you for your responses. I went to my local dealer to inquire about my problem. All he could tell me is that the cable is broken, replacement cost for the cable is over $100.00 and in one complete unit. This is what I did to fix it. 1- slack both right and left cables at adjustment points wire...

Re: Foot warmer cable

To remove and install the cable to the lever assembly, in all most all castes, I use a small 90 deg pick.

Re: tires losing air???

I have an 01 GL1800A that has the 90 degree valve stems. Both tires seem to always require air (just about every other day). I have replaced the valve stems several times and it appears that the small end of the valve stem that goes in the inside of the valve looks like it is bent when I take it ou...

I have to ask, Why get rid of the beads?
Because a tire is not designed to have beads in them.

Re: installing rear speaker harness on a goldwing 1800

The "in" and "out" connectors are under the seat. After you get the seat off, then remove the passenger back rest. The harness runs from under the seat, up the right hinge, thru the trunk lid, and back down the left hinge. Use a sharpie to mark how it runs in and out of the trunk lid. You will also ...

Re: Left saddle bag will not open

Are you able to open the other door using the "plunger" method. If so, try removing the rear, inner, center cover inside the trunk. It only takes a minute ... 5 screws with the center 3 being machined type. Once the cover is off, remove the cable and try pulling on it further. If that does not work,...

You will need to remove the seat, and pull the DTC codes stored in the ECM's memory. See the PGM-FI section in the Service Manual.

Re: Swap 2008 radio to 2009/2010

I doubt anyone has done it. The antenna connection is not aftermarket quality, but OEM grade, and is completely different. It's similar to your NAVI antenna's connector. Also, to install the antenna, a later version visor and antenna bracket is required.

Re: 2015 Maintenance

The OEM filters are best. Also, there is no need for a magnetic drain plug, unless you have an 01-05 Wing, you will never capture anything, and the only time I've seen a magnet catch something was when 1 ADG was failing on an 01-05. I've repaired several ADG well over 50 transmission. Failing transm...

Re: 2015 Maintenance

I sat down with www.partzilla.com and ordered up every one of the little plastic snaps, special sized screws and sunken washers.... sorted into a plastic fishing lure box, and then I tacked the plastics. IMO, it was money well spent, as when a stripped screw was found, I just found one the same siz...

Re: Shops in Phoenix that will install a rear car tire on a GL1800

If you carry in your tire and wheel assembly, most shops will not have a problem mounting a car tire on a m/c wheel. If they ask, tell them it's for a trailer that is used on your farm. However, finding a shop willing to mount the tire/wheel assembly with a car tire mounted on it on to the m/c is a ...

When you do this stuff for a living life is different. I dont.
That is very true. The DIYr can do whatever they want. For the professional, he/she is held accountable for their decisions, and others pass on to others their good/bad experiences.

Goldwingergreg,do you or your shop have any personal knowledge of progressive failures,or are you just basing comment on theory, more money, must be better? I myself have had good experiences with progressive 416 air shocks, fork springs and monotubes. I'm not doubting the quality of Traxxion, but what...

Re: Sub Wiring Horness

The control unit to "call" or honk your Wing's horn in a parking lot using your remote, or to lock your rear storage compartments, sits between the trunk lid and its inner inner. The broken hinge wires most likely caused your horn to honk.

Re: Fog lights not working

I don't think the ETM covers complete wiring for Hondaline accessories. The relay for them comes in Honda's fog lamp kit and gets installed with the switch. The small relay harness plugs into the small switch harness and both sit under the left front pocket.

Looks like Rob types quicker.

OK ... not a trike ... if you do decide to answer the other 3 questions ... yes/no works best.

- are you using a synthetic oil ???
- are you using an after market clutch lever ???
- has the clutch lever's movement been inspected ???

Possibly you want to know where the control unit is for the comfort package. It sits aft of the battery. To access it, it is best to pull loose the left saddle bag.

Re: ECM OR ECU WHERE IS IT

On 2001-10s, the ECM sits on top of the air box. Ones with air-bags, and 2012-17s sit to the left side of the air box. In both cases, the shelter needs removed for access.

On all 2001-17s, the ECU is attached to the back of the instrument cluster.
