Does he have a good neutral light? If so, then he has an open diode in the reverse regulator assembly. If he’s not getting a good neutral light, then it’s the gear position sensor or a bad connection on the reverse regulator assembly’s connector. The assembly is hidden by the left saddlebag, to the...

The 2006-17 are a completely different design and am pretty sure they will not fit. You will need another 2001-05 door. Have you tried eBay ???

Re: 2008 charging circuit have a fuse?

Most any alternator repair shop can repair these alternators. I always carry in OEM parts, because the guy who runs the shop says he can get rear bearings for as cheap as $5.50. My reply is always ... "I need a $35 bearing," and he gets what I mean. If it only needs brushes, be sure to get 2, and a ...

Parts installed. Yes the stay hole was cracked out.

Motor noise is a little quieter. Seems to run better (could be all in my mind but I'm happier). Done! ;)
It's only a little quieter. The rest is in your mind. But some think they run better after they get a bath :)

Re: Smell of Antifreeze after change

New coolant will often make leaks worst. The coolant Honda calls for uses chemicals to keep the system clean, and those fresh chemicals will help clean out a leak. Most likely your leak is coming from a hose clamp needing tightened. There are like 44 of them. The best way to find your leak(s) is to ...

For the rear rotor, most will get a trike-take off. Some rotors will have 0miles on them. As for pads, most will tell ya that OEM ones are hard to beat.

5th gens that are missing one of both air-box air ducks sound throatier. Like when at 16yo and some would barrow their moms car, some would flip the air cleaner lid over for a louder effect. If missing, be sure to order in a new mount screw for the air duct, and inspect the ECM stay that has the hol...

Re: Return port/valve on rear master cylinder

With pads removed, pucks retracted I have the movement you stated, sliders greased and I have easy movement in and out. From here you are describing strong evidence that your issue is not caused from a caliper binding on its slide points. That brings it back to some sort of hydraulic issue. If drag...

To test ... remove pads and see if caliper can be moved in and out. With the pucks retracted, that caliper should freely move somewhere between 1/4-1/2"

Re: Return port/valve on rear master cylinder

I compared the drag on another wing as compared to mine and their rear tire spun much freer than mine does. You can feel the drag, the center piston is not retracting sufficiently as compared to the outer pistons even with new seals. To test, crack the upper bleeder on that caliper. When cracked, f...

Re: Return port/valve on rear master cylinder

Yes there is a return port in the rear master cylinder. It is a tiny hole, the size of a wire from a wire brush. Hold the wire with a pr of needle nose pliers to clear the port. It is under the reservoir inlet tube adapter. If one chooses to do that, be sure to not push the wire to the point where ...

The harness disconnects on both ends. Re: Return port/valve on rear master cylinder

The secondary m/c has a return port also. Some systems were so poorly maintained that rear brake lock-up returns. Your's might be one. If so, order in the parts from SB-23, and do the recall all over again yourself. The replacement kit is not that expensive. Pg 3 has the part number for the kit. Be ...

Re: 2003 GL1800 Antifreeze Leak at Clutch Cover bolt

Glad you found it. A pump can leak 1 of 3 ways. To verify that it is a pump, once the pump is removed, flip it upside down and look for evidence of a coolant trail from the pee hole. The other place they can leak is from 1 of 2 o-rings. If this happens it is almost always caused from an oil leak tha...

Re: 2003 GL1800 Antifreeze Leak at Clutch Cover bolt

First off, the clutch cover, and rear cover, and any of their bolts have nothing to do with anti-freeze. There are no internal coolant passages at the back of the engine. So there is no reason for "bolt sealer" or a gasket repair. Coolant is not leaking from there, it is making its way there and dri...

Re: 2016 Trunk hinges binding after seat change

GWG Sorry, that's not what I meant. I remember one brand aftermarket backrest that wrapped out and around the speaker pods. Bigger than stock. Only would be an issue with Hondaline or RIVCO armrests. Also, frankly, I can't see where use of a 01-10 seat pan on a 12-17 frame would cause this issue. I...

Re: 2016 Trunk hinges binding after seat change

Forgot about that ... Andy Cote pointed out that possibly the wrong seat was installed. 5th gens have 2 different seat pan designs. One seat is designed for the 2001-10s, and another for 2012-17.

Also, make sure your hinge bolts are tight at the lid. There are 3 on each side.

Re: 2016 Trunk hinges binding after seat change

It's might be easy to blame the seat; however, possibly the trike kit was not fitted correctly. Where you able to easily install all 4 mount bolts for the seat ??? You might want to reinstall the OEM seat and passenger backrest and compare its fitment to another Wing. You might want to install the n...
