Re: NO headlights (except in reverse)
Thanks guys. GoldwingrGreg. The headlights should shut off when the start button is pressed unless the reverse button is in. Apparently some states require the headlights to be on when the bike is in motion. Silly as it is, reverse is in motion. I’ll look for the connector on the right side. Thanks...

Re: CB radio troubles
Well, I got bad news from Sierra Electronics this morning. They said that my CB is not repairable. So, instead of sending it back and paying for shipping, they are going to dispose of it, whatever that means. It's a good thing that I found the other one. Just waiting for it to arrive now. I'm hopin...

Re: NO headlights (except in reverse)
Sorry ... I don't have a Service Manual in front of me. But I thought that the low beams shut off when the start button is pushed in. As for the location of connectors. A Honda Service Manual has pictures of those in either in front of, or behind the index. Sometimes it is easiest to go to the index...

Re: starter problems
are both relays the same part number because i am looking at 35860-mca-a61 and 35850-mca-61? or does it matter? Starter relays 'A' and 'B' have different part numbers. Another way to get power to the starter is jumping power to the rear cable on starter relay 'B'. That cable goes directly to the st...

If your rubber grommit on the main harness, that goes thru the front trunk panel is any good, I'd be willing to buy it ... please, please please
My 07 is getting a resto from the ground up, and that grommet it all cracked out.

Re: Gl1800 2001, ECU compatability
I have an FI26, service tech swapped the right and left knock sensors and then checked the wire to the ECU. I have to find an ECU, the part number is 38770-MCA-671. I can find some other numbers on Ebay, there is one for 2003 Gl1800 but the part number is 38770-MCA-305. I am wondering if that would...

Re: Starter won't stop with key off
When replacing the starter and it's relays, be sure to only use OEM ones. If the starter is not seated by hand, often the reverse idler gear gets broke. So be sure to only seat it by hand ... no pushing on it with a tool, and do not draw it in using its mount bolts. An aftermarket starter's pins can...

I can't find a picture of the rear of the engine with clutch cover only removed. But it is possible to get access to the bolt just by the clutch cover? The shape of the cover teel me that yes....in this case, replacing the bolt to prevent future damage may be a good idea as a winter projet... Someo...

But nowhere does it say NOT to add a chemical to your gas. I think the empirical evidence across the board for not only motorcycles, but pert near every form of ICE engine, shows some fantastic results for almost everyone who has used it. It all comes down to doing your own research, and my researc...

Re: Can't program Homelink; no dash light
Hondaline, but I did eventually figure it out. For those of you who are still stuck. You need an actual OEM remote for your opener to program HomeLink. An aftermarket opener WILL NOT WORK even if it seems to work fine with your garage door opener. Once I ordered and programmed an OEM remote, then f...

Re: Sea foam
I agree with you on a lot of things Greg, but the Owner's Manual for the Wing (or anything) is written by lawyers looking to limit their liability. They will only ever recommend their own products, and they will never recommend another company's product because the variables are just too great once...

Re: Can't program Homelink; no dash light
Hey folks, just installed Homelink (not trivial), but when I went to program it by pushing and holding the button, the homelink dash light doesn't light up and basically nothing happens. Pretty sure I installed it right (connectors only go in one way, and although it's a long install, it's not comp...

Re: Sea foam
Beware ... there are lots of chemicals sold in parts stores, and if you read their can, everyone of them will tell you why you need to use them. My advise, when it comes to how to care for, operatate, store, or maintain your Wing, follow the instruction in the Owner's Manual. No where in there does ...

Re: ABS light
I feel sorry for you. It took me years to figure out my issue. In my case, my ABS light would intermittantly flash. Which means that at that moment it's unlikely that I have tools and time to pull over to diagnose it. When I did have time to diagnose it, the light might have quit. Or when it was act...

Re: CB radio troubles
It is a Honda CB and it looks to be a sealed unit however, the end seal (rubber gasket) is obviously leaking. I guess I will take it out again and try some more cleaning but, the one cable goes all the way up to the radio so, it is a pain to remove. Thanks Guys Russell Here at JustWings - GL1800 Sp...

Long ago, and to practice riding in heavy rains with 50mph gusts (sideways rain), I once venture out when hurricane bands were dumping rain from above. Lucky for me, there was no other traffic, so it was a, let say, perfect practice day. However, the next day I found lots of condensaion in my trumk,...

Re: Trailering with 2021 DCT
Here's more info. In the 2018-19 Owner's Manuals, Honda printed how to trailer a 6th gen. Apparently, in 2020-current, they've remove those instructions. It's my opinion that a maunfature would do that only after being sued. The reality is this. There really is no "great way" to trailer a ...

Re: Reverse gear stopping after 2-3 seconds - sorted
Replaced the Starter and solenoids last month. Mine is a 2006 Goldwing, so if you are familiar with how the OEM handles parts suppliers for that old of a bike, I think you'd know that the OEM has pass on the spare parts business to aftermarket suppliers a long time ago. If you think your getting an...

Re: Radio display
The left handle bar switch assembly is routed over to the white connector cage, that holds 3 other large connectors, and sits under the RF speaker and in front of the RF pocket. A bad or poor connection is possible there, as well as checking the radio connections under the radio.

Test your power and ground by either using a test light of a digital volt meter. With the key on, you should have battery voltage, and ground at all times. FYI ... I beleive most digital things, like MP3 players, cell phones, and GPSs, that we might plug into a 12v source, step down their voltage to...

Sorry ... I don't currently ride a 6th gen, but I do own and operate the only GL1800 specialty repair shop in the world. As for using the e-brake when trailering, that's a really good question. Yes, when parked, I would use the ebrake, but only under these conditions. First off, it needs adjusted co...
