Re: 2002 1800 low speed misfire/detonation
Remove the fuel cap and look in with a flash light. Any rust in the filler neck ??? Your missfire could be from slow moving valve(s). On 5th gens, the injectors sit directly on-top of the intake valve stems, and old sticky fuel can cause slow intake valve return. 5th gens have very little valve spri...

Re: Leaking fuel lines?
Hi Everyone, I have been noticing dried residue spots on my plastics down by my footpegs. Is this possibly leaky fuel lines or overflow line? It seems to be on both sides. It is not alot of spots, but almost looks like I spilled something under my seat and it found it's way out to the ground. Has a...

Re: For Scott
The EPA has clamped down on much of that stuff because it alters the emmisions, and most of the manufactures don't wait fined or jail time. Also, most of my customers will share that much of the hesitation goes away if the Wing is properly maintained. For example: - a health, correct type and ampera...

Re: Suddenly it won’t start.
New batteries need tested to verify that they test good. 5th gen Wings have various lock outs that keeps the starter from turning over. Be sure that the side stand is up ('S' light not lit), that it's in neutral ('N' light on), that the kill switch is in the "on" position, that reverse is ...

Re: Spare Relays, and Anything Else?
My advised would be to do a thorough inspecion of the Wing prior to leaving and replace parts that are needed then. Such inspections are done on 12 and 24k services. In addition to that, be sure to service the hand levers, side stand, and check the battery and charging system. If your Wing has not h...

Re: Brake Lights Stay On
I'd start by pushing out on your front brake lever to see if it causes your brake lights to go out. If so, do you have OEM levers or chrome ones, or aftermarket piviot pins. FYI ... on 5th gens, the clutch and brake levers should be removed, cleaned, and their related parts inspected at least every ...

Re: 2003 GL1800 wont drink coolant
Hello everyone. This is my first post and also my first GW ever, i found the site looking for answers about why my GW wont drink the new coolant when i already drained more than 3 quarts of the old one. I kid you not, no more than 8oz of new coolant have actually go into the empty radiators/engine....

Re: GL1800 trailer choices, single mono wheel or dual wheel
Although BushTec makes a great trailer, I too have some things I wish were different. Certainly is the availablity of tires. I always carry a spare. Another is grease around the hitch area, and lastly, is always having to watch the camber angle of the tires and having to air the shocks accordinly.

Re: GPS works but won't track
That is correct, wherever the bike starts, is where the GPS shows as being, even after a day on the road, it shows initial location. Of course it will not guide,as it sees no movement. It's been my experiance that happens when the antenna is not positioned or installed correctly. I experianced the ...

Re: GL1800 trailer choices, single mono wheel or dual wheel
Some build there own, or buy small trailers intended for cars, but somehow get sold to the m/c world too. Most of them are unsafe in many ways, and the rider has no idea until he/she finds out the hard way. For safe pulling, a real m/c pull trailer has certain phyical features. Let me share what hap...

I know this may be a long shot since this is a rather old thread, but..... ...has anyone actually done this procedure on a trike? My 2008 has the exact same problem with the hydraulic portion of the suspension (won't engage until it hits 8 or 9 on the scale). Looks darn near impossible to do withou...

Re: Champion trike conversion kit info
Thanks for the reply Big Blue. I will set the shocks to the lowest setting and reduce my tire pressure and see if that helps. I found that the rear suspension is working after fiddling with the switch. The pump begins to engage right at 15 and goes to 25. The bike's body does lift about an inch. I ...

Re: Map sensor
I just dug in on a 03 1800 to check the air filter and coolant level to find the map sensor hanging loose on the wire harness. IMG_0796.JPG My question is should this have been attached to one of those open holes on the edge of the cruse module? Or does it belong somewhere else since it is a sensor...

Re: A knock that isnt always there
I listened to the video again. As the clock changes from 2 to 3 seconds, and at the 3 second mark when the Wing is just barely stopped, there are single knocks at each of those times. Assuming that the 2 knocks that I'm hearing are the same as the others, and because at the 2nd one the bike is not m...

Re: Hole Above Oil Filter
Your picture is of no help. However, there should be a threaded hole for an oil pressure sending (OPS)unit to screw into above the oil filter. If there is no OPS threaded into it and when running, a lot of oil will squirt/flow out of it.

Re: Recommendation for battery tender for 2003 GL1800
Why do you need a battery tender ??? So you can get 5+ years out of a battery instead of 1-2? So you always have a full charge on the battery? I keep my bikes on tenders all the time, even though the longest I go without riding is a few weeks, but batteries last for years. I plug mine in every time...
