Re: Dead radio after Reverse

Not sure but doesn't the radio turn off when you put it in reverse..if so..then I'd be looking into the reverse switches.Maybe yhe radio doesn't know it's in the go mode.

Re: Lagging between 2 & 3 thousand RPMs

Run the bike till it starts to "lag"..reach over and bump up the choke lever a bit.See if the engine picks back up.A carb needle lift was needed on mine to get it through the mid-range lean spot.
And no..you can't just leave the choke part way on

Re: Need positive vibes sending out to my Goldwing who has decided it wants to be a 900 triple

Not confirmed but my guess. A GL1200 divided by 4 cylinders is 300cc per cylinder..Running on 3 cylinders is a 900 triple. I suppose all 4 running would be a 1200 fourple? And 2 cylinders makes it a halfie(600cc) Running on just one..Hmmmm..a onzie??(300cc)??? I've had all of these happen at one tim...

Re: Phone Volt Meter

You can rewire it or just live with it knowing it's ok..just showing a voltage drop.
I mainly watch my volt meter for sudden large changes..say dropping from 13.8 to 12.2..a indication it quit charging.

Re: Phone Volt Meter

So you do have a relay switching the acc. wire feeding the outlet and volt meter. What size is the wire and is the black(ground) the same size and does it tie directly to the frame or one of the bikes green(ground)wire? I refer this to a "home run" wiring method. #12 wire from the frame (battery grou...

Re: Phone Volt Meter

Same answer here too. Without a lot of electrical math...Yes it could be normal. This is called voltage drop with load. I suspect if your volt meter we're attached to a different circuit from the charger you would find it doesn't change much if any. Your volt meter is attached to a low power, small g...

Re: Nuetral hard to find

Do you have the shift lever stabilizer installed?
A loose shift lever due to inherent design or loose pinch bolts on the lever does make for poor gear selection.

Re: Trunk Rattle

On my 1500 I had rattling everywhere..It is over 30 years old.. On mine and another fellow with a 1800, I opened the trunk lid and carefully inspected the "lip" where they overlap..It was easy to spot every place where the 2 plastic parts were rubbing together..Out comes the magic.. A strip of fuzzy...

Re: New to me '75 GL1000

Very first thing...Pull all 4 spark plugs and HAND crank the engine..Don't even attempt to start it yet...
I always suggest to see if the engine is runable before doing anything else.

Re: GL1200 Aspencade Ignition Switch Voltage loss

Although not a good idea.(except by me)..after the cleaning the contacts, I rubbed a bit of Mercury on the contacts and removed the excess...The Mercury provides a perfect connection and won't wear off. I hollowed out a divot in the end of a pencil eraser..captured a dot of Mercury and rubbed.. Neve...

Re: Interesting restart issue

If start with a load test on the battery. Even tho they crank over ok,the voltage may be dropping off a bit too much to get a good spark. It's the easiest thing to check. Do you have a voltmeter to monitor the battery volts while cranking.? I put one on mine..It still cranked ok but the battery fell...

Re: 98 GL1500 carb pilot screw

The drain screws are attached to the bowl..The idle screws are attached to the carb body. They may not look the same. There may be a restrictor cap or a cover on them. Can't seem to find a quick picture but Google images should reveal what your looking for.

I'll bet 10 cents that what you see is the carb drain screws. Not the idle jet screws.

Re: Why am I not getting power?

Ok.I did a read through... Quick test... Voltmeter attached to the frame and probe the threaded stud on the starter where the power wire is attached..Is there volts when you push the start button?. If none..move to the threaded stud on the starter solenoid (starter side)..same test..Is there volts? ...

Re: Starter

To the best of my knowledge..NO.
The 88/89 uses a 2 post electrical connection. Both positive and negative connections.90 and up use a single positive post.
As plug and play it won't electrically be the same..

Re: Only runs with choke open

My very first guess is both slow speed jets are near (or)plugged.Same happened with mine.Only would (idle down to 1500 rpm) if I kept the "choke" on a bit.The "choke" is a fuel enriching valve not like the older choke style that closes off the intake. You could try some snake oil...mixed results. Or...
