Re: Only right carbs getting fuel

OK....... if I understand correctly what the OP is stating is the right carbs (#3 and #1) are getting fuel and the left carbs (#2 and #4) are not. And the "Fuel Tube" the OP is referring to is the "red straw" that is in the Accelerator pump circuit in the plenum and not referring to the transfer tub...

Re: not starting

that is correct. that is why i would burn from reserve for the first few miles after fill up in case i got some bad gas with water or from condensation build up as wingadmin stated above. its just nice to find the problem when the tank is full and you can switch back to main and keep going.

Re: not starting

if left for a long time water in the carbs / tank will cause corrosion and possibly blockage. but in your case it should be ok once you flush fresh gas through the system.

Re: 1981 gl1100 fuel issue!

check the air cut off diaphragms. if they are leaking it will draw fuel from the idle circuit side directly into the intake tube and will not allow the idle circuit to work. also verify that the two air jets that feed the idle circuits (each carb) are clean.

Sorry to say that I do not have nor could I find it on the internet or this web site. This site should create a section for information like this. It would be beneficial to have the size of the nut documented so a proper tool can be obtained / made. I found some sockets on the web that provided dime...

Re: spark plug wire replacement

the coil and the plug cap both have a threaded pintle in the center where the wire is inserted. on the coil there is a threaded ferrule that is slid on the wire before the wire is inserted into the coil. once installed the ferrule is threaded into place making a water tight connection. on the cap si...

Re: 1983 Gl1100 Rear Seal Pushing itself our

the case is machined so that the bearing is pressed from the inside up against a shoulder. the seal is pressed into the case from the outside. there is nothing that would push the seal out as long as everything is per print. that said it seems to be a size issue since the OP stated that the seal wen...

Re: Engine hot, water in radiator neck is cold. Doesn't appear to have circulation

you could easily remove the housing (2 bolts) from in front of the pump and after draining the coolant will be able to see the pump impeller. verify the fins are intact. if it is Bakelite it is the original to the bike. tap the starter to verify it turns ( it could have locked up and snapped off the...

Honda uses the same cover on the final drive fill and the stator bolt cover on the gl1100. it is also used as the tappet cover on ct70, cb175, cb750 sohc and a bunch of others.

Re: Changing Rear Brake Pads 1981

you should inspect the caliper bracket. on the 81 the pads are held in position in the bracket and there is not enough clearance between the rotor and the bracket for the pad to fit through even with all friction material worn away. i am hoping that the pads were not worn down to the metal. the spri...

Re: GL1100 broken bleeder screws

yes that has been done..... however it is normally done because the bleeder is stuck and cant be removed and is not leaking. since you mentioned "plugged" i am assuming that it is leaking some what. i hope that is not the case. with the caliper removed and a block of wood or spacer of some kind betw...
