Re: no spark

Have the battery tested under load at auto zone or a place like that. Sounds like the battery does not have enough power to turn your engine over.

Re: Manually add air to suspension 1982 Aspencade

Should be a cap by the triple tree to add air. DO NOT use an air compressor. It will blow your seals out. Use a hand pump.

Leave the filter.

I am on my 3 time to adding sea foam. Does not want to start under 45 degrees.
Make sure you take out oil before adding sea foam. Do not overfill the oil.

I would use the 18-20 inch air nozzle and do what you are suggesting.

Re: Clicking sound?

Starter solenoid. Jump a screw driver across the 2 bolts on the solenoid with bike in neutral.
If that does not do it, take the battery to have it tested with a load.

7" DOT H4 CRYSTAL DIAMOND MOTORCYCLE HEADLIGHT $21.95 + $10.99ship = $32.94 E-Bay.
Google this headlight and see if it conforms to your rules.

Re: Fuse Block replaced and all is well

This project has been on my mind since 2017. I bought a 1200 fuse box to use on my 1100.
I am starting this project this weekend when it gets to 50F.

How long did it take to do this?

I may have a compressor in my mountain of junk.
You will need a different false tank to put the digital things on an aspencade.

I like to ride in the cold.
So what weight of oil should I use for 15 f and above temperature?
The Honda 10 w 40 won't turn the engine over. I tried using sea foam with my last oil change and the starter still just spins.

Disconnect the plug and leave it all on the bike. I disconnected the multiple plug on the left beside the regulater plug. I used the black wire for my keyed hot wire to the system.
This plug will disconnect your stater

GL1100 Starter

My starter has been giving me fits all winter. Put a new solenoid on seemed to work. But it did not. Put sea foam in the oil and rode it 100 miles and changed filter and oil while warm. The starter was rebuilt by an alternator shop 2 yrs ago. The starter just spins. Will not turn the engine. Any ide...

Re: Carb cleaning fuel additive.

I use atf every second fill up.

For rt now i would put in seafoam in the gas and run the bike.
This at times will help clean out the carbs.

Put some seafoam in the oil about 100 miles before you are changing the oil.
Helps get some junk out and helps with the shifting.

Re: Honda GL1100 interstate rebuild

Probably not. The pumpkin ball will need drained and refilled. After you get it running, pour 1/2 can of sea foam in the oil ride it about 100 miles and while hot, drain out the oil and change filter and add oil. Pour the other half of sea foam in the gas tank with fresh gas. I run my 1100 with 4-6 ...

Re: Honda GL1100 interstate rebuild

The motor probably is in good shape. Turn the engine over by hand to check. Pull the back cover off and use a 17mm socket to rotate the engine. Definitely replace the timing belts before you even attempt to turn it over with the starter. then write the date and miles on the inside belt cover.

Re: Honda GL1100 interstate rebuild

Most 80 - 83 gl1100 parts are interchangeable.

The aspencade is the exception.
Look above any page on this forum and click on manuals. The part numbers will tell you if they are interchangeable.

And yes the gas tank comes out of the back end.
