Re: Quitting motorcycles?
I had almost quit riding a few years back when someone wanted to buy my '99 GL1500. I decided to sell it and found a 2008 GL1800. I have since ridden the 1800 much more than I did the 1500. It was different enough, and for me much more fun to ride. We also have horrible drivers, and recently I think...

Re: Michelin Commander II Tires
I had the steering head bearings changed right before I got the tires. The ride has been really smooth. A little noisy on the curves lately. I had a set of Avons on my 1500 that I sold about two and a half years ago. They are still on the bike and look good. The tread pattern was not good for water ...

Re: Michelin Commander II Tires
10K update on the Commander II on my 08. I started to take a long trip this week and was checking over the bike and found that my front tire was worn down enough that I cancelled my trip. The rear tire has more miles left, but I was surprised at how much the front had worn in such a short time. I ha...

Re: Michelin Commander II Tires
On my 2008 I now have 7K on Michelin Commander IIs and showing almost no wear. I have Counteract balancing beads installed and am quite happy with the ride traction and handling. I do notice a little whine on on a high speed corner now and then, but that doesn't bother me. I will probably get them a...

Re: Dark Mesh Pants
Thanks for all the replies. Looks like I should have said "Dark Mesh Britches". :) I do have leather (buffalo) chaps and wear them in winter. With our heat and humidity they are pretty hot in summer. I have been thinking about Olympia Airglide in pewter since they can be cut in length for ...

Re: alternator question
This is an interesting problem. I have seen several threads listed under idle surge for doing the same thing. It seems that what has worked for some does not work for others. I changed out my air filter, and spark plugs and went for a ride. After I stopped for a break and started it, the engine surg...

Rained all day today. Can't work outside. Starting to feel like Groundhogs Day.

Re: Not riding? How do you keep yourself busy?
Most things are the same for me except I can't ride. I ride year round usually. I help take care of my grandson and since it finally quit raining work on the house. I finished getting the bike ready for my planned trip to big bend on the 1st of April, but that got cancelled.

Thanks for the feedback. I have found that many are out of stock now. I don't know if they are getting discontinued or being bought out for the summer.

Dark Mesh Pants
I have a Revit light colored mesh jacket trying to reflect the sun as much as possible, because I live in Austin where it is hot most of the time. I decided to get some mesh pants since I have been wearing jeans for a long time that provide no protection or ventilation. My legs are short, so I have ...

Something to Think About
Today I went on a pretty good ride since the weather was so nice. I came up on a pasture with several buffalo and one had a baby. Since the road had a nice wide paved shoulder, I decided to pull over and take a picture. I was about a quarter mile from a highway intersection ahead. I took some pictur...

It is really not that difficult to do if you take your time. Mine is a base model which helps with the number of things that you have to remove.

Air Filter
Replaced the air filter on my 2008 last week. It was the dirtiest I have ever seen. It was really not as bad as I thought it would be. I worked slowly and kept track of everything as recommended. The bike runs better and mileage looked a little better. Videos really helped.

Thanks, I'm pretty meticulous about maintenance, but this has been twice in one year for the clutch and I was wondering if others have had similar issues.

Had to Bleed Clutch Again
Started to take off and the clutch would not work on my 2008. I have had the bike about a year and a half and just about a year ago had a similar problem except I was about 70 miles from home and had to ride without the comfort of a clutch. I bled the clutch today and everything seems to be working ...

Re: What's the funniest thing that ever happened to you with your Goldwing?
I was too embarrassed to tell, but some of you have experienced much worse. After having lunch on the square in Wimberley TX (a tourist town) I was trying to pull out of the parking lot with a lot of traffic and pedestrians to watch out for. As I started to pull out, I looked down and saw a big curb...

Re: Throttle Rocker
I have the Throttle Boss that stretches and it will fit over either. I didn't like the Cramp Buster because it was too big and got in the way. Search for Throttle Boss on Amazon if you are interested.

PLedge and Bees
Has anyone who uses Pledge (orange flavor) noticed that it attracts bees? Last year I was on a ride to San Saba, TX. and sitting at the light on Main street bees started swarming around me. I thought it was strange, but since I had all my gear on I didn't have any problems. I rode two or three miles...

Re: Cigarette lighter location
I am looking for another place to mount the one on my 08. The PO mounted it on the brake res, and it is pretty handy, but I want that space for something else. Something with the least amount of disassembly would be nice.

Re: Phone Mount Questions
I looked at the Ram mount Quick grip and kind of like the way it holds the phone. I worry about squeezing the phone too hard and causing damage. I had a mount in the car a few years ago and it caused the speaker connection to separate.

Re: Arai Signet-X Helmet
Thanks for another good review. I have a Quantum II that is getting long in the tooth. I have been looking and trying to figure out what would be the appropriate Arai with the same head shape. I found a Signet X (my size is 2XL), but had a little pressure on the sides. I was wondering if the Quantum...
