Re: Need feedback

With Garmin, once their model is no longer supported, there goes the "lifetime maps". You have to buy them after their runout, and that can be expensive. Don't know enough to comment on TomTom.

Re: the new SPOT X satellite transponder

Does it only work where you do not have mobile (cell) connection, then it would be of limited use as I only go on made roads with the GW? There seems to be plenty of signal for the mobiles, and I do not go bush walking these days, so will not be going anywhere strange in the future, either. I do no...

Re: the new SPOT X satellite transponder

Pardon my ignorance, I hadn't heard of it before. When I looked it up, including the prices, I found out that it would cost around AU$400 the first year, and another AU$200 a year thereafter. Maybe I should get out more often.

You North Americans are spoiled for choice. These satellites just don't want to come this far south. In the meantime, back to the latest technology - called a GPS

Re: Oil additives in old engines

I have a converted bus to a motorhome, and have lived in it when I was away working. The bus weighted about 10 tons in its registered configuration. It originally had a Perkins (English) diesel engine, that, when I contacted the manufacturers, they stated it was in specifications if it used 1 litre...

Re: Average age ?

Well, I suppose hunting in winter is alright - it puts those real cold critters out of their misery of spending another winter in the cold, while you await the warmth and sunshine of Spring and Summer to go riding. That is from an older fart, that still manages to get his leg over occasionally.

You poor people. Sliding in the snow, while us real people, commonly called Southerners, are sliding on surfboards, swimming, motorcycling, more motorcycling, and enjoying the outdoors. Keep your chins up, it only has about two months more to keep you indoors.

Well I am older, but no longer a gentleman! At 77 they have taken my heavy vehicle license off me, - over 75 is a no no here for a heavy licence. I also have no licence at present, as the traffic authority cancelled my licences, and i have to undertake a practical driving test, but I am not letting...

I cannot contribute much so far from the potential action, but, to move a "mob", break them into packets, set a speed average, and max speed, for each section. Then set the packets off at some time intervals. say five to ten minutes. Allow front to rear liaison - when turning a corner, th...

it is a shame that your temperatures have gone low already. We are starting to enjoy the bounty of summer, and this week we had a 37c (about 98f). All you snow bunnies, romping around in your salt/grit laden roads, my heart goes out to you - but just a little bit. It is a shame that your riding sea...
