Re: synchronizing carbs
hi, wingadmin, and i appreciate you joining in on this. i understand that there is a possibility of changing vacuum readings, but my thinking is that it will affect all 4 equally. perhaps this precaution was introduced at some point just in case someone were synching using only a single vacuum gaug...

Re: synchronizing carbs
When the bike's fan comes on, it adds electrical load, which will slow down the engine, which will affect the vacuum readings that you're trying to match. OR wait for it to warm long enough for the fans to kick in. All you're really looking for is a CONSISTENT, steady RPM that can be used when goin...

Re: Bike stuck in wheel chock!
Placed a piece of wood in the chock and “ presto” no problems. Bike rolled in nicely and backed out with ease. Perplexing but hey.... it works! Is that a 16" front tire? The r1200c had a model that had a 16" on the front. That would explain why you are having the problem as you didn't adj...

Re: TIRE CUPPING & DEATH WOBBLE
Many will give you various things to do but the only cure for tire cupping and the steering wobble is to replace the steering bearing set, and properly torque them. Steering bearings are a maintenance item that most riders fail to replace thinking "naw they don't wear out.... " Get tapered...

Re: Recommendation for battery tender for 2003 GL1800
I've had a couple of the detran Jr and one of their large original. Gave away the last Jr to a friend who needed it. The past 4 years I've had a Schumacher 3 Amp charger maintainer that has done a better job at maintaining the batteries. (Actually I have 4 of them now for the multiple bikes). I left...

Re: How hard do you ride your GL1800
I see some are doing 20k plus per year rides. Going to have to work up to those. That's when cruise control would be nice. I'm usually one of those. The wings are built to endure hard riding, in fact, they love it. My 83 GL1100A got 26,500 miles in a year and a half. My 99SE got 55,000 in 3 years. ...

I wish them the best. The store is a nice half hour ride thru the national park from my place, and has always been a warm place to stop, shop and chat. I'm also glad that it's not closing down. It's a great place to find odds and ends, bits and bobs. Looking forward to seeing what the new owners br...

Re: Super wide angle mirror
Not very. Mounted like that, it's low enough to not be a problem, and the angle is so wide the sun is just a tiny spot anyhow, like a glint off of chrome trim. The glint off of chrome trim that my 99SE had is why I've not added chrome trim on my 08. How is reflection of headlights of vehicles behin...

Redoing my 81 with vetter setup. Have an 82 been stealing parts off. Couple front brake calipers and a few elec parts. The 82 has good tires. Can I just swap wheels and tires or need to change tires? Front wheel on 82 is the one piece wheel. Are you sure you are talking 81 and 82?? The 82 has 2 pot...

A bad Bank Angle Sensor can be the problem as well as bad Pulse Generators.
