Re: Heated Seat on 2013 Gold Wing Level 3

Onelegger. I had a 2006 GL1800, & now, a 2010 GL1800 that I installed (inline plugin=idiot proof [me]) a Honda GL1800 Heated Seat Amplifier. Both worked great & presented no problems. Can not set seat warmer more than "3" on the selector or it gets too hot. You may have other problems but this migh...

Re: Front fork rebuild

I disabled my anti dive, replaced the bushings and seals and added progressive springs. Much better ride up front . For the rear I replaced the 07 with a 12 rear shock and spring with actuator. All that much better.

Very nice. I was wondering if adding an injector cleaner would have helped over the years but you wouldn't know unless you pull them and have them professionally checked.

Re: all balls bearings steering kit

tapered roller bearings will do the same thing only with lines in the race instead of a groove or dents. I believe the rollers are better because of the better or more contact patch. I have replaced the stock head bearings on both of my wings and have done friends wigs also, all with better results ...

Re: valve adjustment

For faster startups, better mpg, smoother running, and better throttle response, be sure to have them center spec'd. The difference is noticeable. Nothing beats an equal amount of fuel going in and equal amount or exhaust going out. Center spec'd? Not sure what you mean by that Greg? I know he will...

Very nice and good to know. My 07 has 62k miles and I was going to check it this winter for its first time but reading other post I decided not to. Maybe next year or the year after.

Re: 2006 GL1800 Luggage Rack Broken Tap

The tap extractors, yes.
As a journeyman machinist I have also used a tap burner. It has an electrode that burns the tap out. I have drilled out taps too with a carbide end mill.
Either way a machine shop is the place to go if the extractor doesn't work.

Re: 2006 GL1800 Luggage Rack Broken Tap

A carbide tool on the dremel may work but the tap is probably deep in the part. Taps usually will brake when you start to back it out.
Is the tap broke off flush with the part ?

The smh10 will do all that but you can not talk back through the cb. You also need the sena headset. The smh10 connects to the bikes 5 pin din.

I'm not sure exactly because I have never had them apart but from the pictures on a schematic the disc pad is different sizes. As in a different pad width.

You are on a great quest, I love doing these things. Somethings will just be checked but a lot of your list you are on the right path. Keep us posted. Thanks Keithg64. Are you hinting that I should really be looking to replace the bits I've said I only intend checking, e.g. wheel bearings and steer...

Re: Do spark plugs really go bad? (Ponderment)

I just always figured that with my maintenance schedule I'll change plugs every year but I'll usually ride about 15k-18k miles a year. Along with everything else, plugs are cheap enough.

I have used the 90 degree and the T style of valve stems for years without a problem. Some valves are longer then others and that is what you may be using. ?

When greater cleaning is needed, add more Sea Foam – the more you ad...

Re: Kuryakin Iso Grips over OEM Heated

I had the kuryakyn clam shell style on my heated grips when I bought the bike and I am not a fan at all. I went to the grip puppy's also and just love them. I had them on my 1500 that had heated grips also. Better cushion and feel and the heat comes through them fantastically.

I haven't seen a way to do this on the 01-10 but why wouldn't there be a way ? Some way to have an sd card or flash drive and control from handlebars instead of the j&m and the Chinese cheap thing.
