Re: Left hand controls Replacement

Here's one from an 1800 on ebay. I'm not sure if the cb part would hook up to anything or if you can take it off.

Re: closing screw on the buttom of oil sump

I couldn't find it in the schematic but just tighten it up and rechecked your oil level and your good to go.

Re: Had to Bleed Clutch Again

I have not had that problem with my 07 however I did put speed bleeders on the clutch and brakes for a easier maintenance. And when she is put away for the winter, a couple times a week, I cycle the clutch to keep everything moving.

Re: Winter store...

It is definitely ok to leave your bike on the center stand. I have a spare scissor jack that I put under the front of the bike to lift the front wheel and a small piece of wood or cardboard is perfectly fine also.

I put grip puppies on my 07 with a throttle rocker. I have no problem with the heated grips and the rocker is a great add on for a palm rest.

Re: rear shock

Removing the tank is the best way. Once removed you can easily see it and get to it. Yes the stainless steel line is a great investment while you have it apart.

Re: 2003 complete restauration

Since your going to have the engine out I would seriously look into the alternator drive gear replacement. The 01-05 had that issue as well as the frame braking issue, but I believe you have to split the case to do it.

Re: 12” MadStad on 1999 GL1500

I installed my new madstad last week. 14 inch on my 07. I played with it a little because our weather wasn't the best last week. Over the weekend I rode it up to around 65 mph and found that sweet spot. Rode it to work this morning and wow, the wind turbulance is virtually gone. It was a lot quieter...

Have you tried wd40. It's an excellent cleaner. Spray onto your rag and wipe the rim down a couple of times. Should be good to go.

Re: HELP!! NEED FRONT WHEEL

Insurance claim for a new or used is an option. A buddy of mine bent his front rim after hitting a rock and got front and rear new tires out of insurance at the same time.
Another option is to bend it back if it's not cracked.

Re: how do you change fork oil

If your not replacing seals and just changing oil than yes on the removal of the forks.
When I replaced my seals and sliders I also installed drain plugs like the ones on the 1500. Much easier to just change the oil.

Re: shock upgrade

I replaced my rear shock and spring over the winter with a setup from a 12 with very low miles. I did not change the spring to a progressive, I understand it's a bit to tight for my style of riding. Mostly one up. You will definitely feel the difference and mostly on how bad or how saggy your origin...

Re: Fuel injectors cleaning?

The surge that your having may just need a ECM reset. Start the bike cold and let it idle until the fans come on. Do not touch the throttle at all. Let the fans come on at least once if not twice. Shut the bike off completely, kill switch and key. Restart bike, ECM is reset. I had to do this a coupl...

Re: what tire to buy

I have been using Dunlop E3 on the 1500 then E4 on the 1800 and just have loved them. However I just bought an Avon cobra chrome av91 and will be putting it on next. I got it from American moto tire in Arizona. They where the cheapest and with a $20 rebate.
