Re: Tank Bags for a GL1800

I have used a 1/2 gallon water jug in a mount I made that attached to the right passenger foot rest, with a hose that came up to me with an end on it. Worked pretty good. I also put a water backpack jug in a cooler on the passenger seat and recently saw a post on another site that the guy put a Came...

Re: Bugs behind speaker covers

During our bug season I get quite a few bugs behind my speaker grill too. My guess is that they come up from the fork area and some go through the the wind tunnel under there and some get sucked into the speaker grill area. A couple times a riding season I take the grill out and them them bugs out. ...

GL1500 Fork Brace

When I had my gl1500 I made a couple of fork braces. This is the mod 2 with the engraving on the top of the brace. They worked really well. CNC machined to exacting tolerances. 6160 aluminum with no coating on them. Have them powdered coated or leave as is. $70 includes shipping in the continental us.

Re: DUNLOP Elite 4 tires millage

I had 24k on my last set of E4 and it had very little cupping but it was loud over time. My wife said it sounds like a helicopter was above us.

My last set was avon's, not a bad tire but the rear was used up at 17k miles so replaced both with a set of E4s again. I like the dunlops. Always have.

Re: Is 2001 speedometer different than 02-05?

I don't know why it would not. There is dash clusters on ebay for under $200. But since you need to get in there to replace I would get in there and see why it is hanging up and decided on getting a replacement then. Just my thought.

Re: Antifreeze leak

I have an 07 and from what I have read is that hoses don't normally need changed unless there is a problem. The OP could have a leaking hose from a hose clamp or from dry rot from sitting alot. And as Greg said its likely under the tank.

I do mine while it's on the bike. Just use a socket and ratchet and compress the nut down. It's not really that difficult. Just don't cross thread the threads.

Re: Suspension harshness

It is my understanding that most of the time the piston in the top half of the adv is stuck. The part that is activated by the rear brake pedal. Remove the top 2 - 5 mm bolts and see if the piston is free. You will loose no fluid at this time. Some people have rebuilt this end of the adv and others ...

You welcome. I found that last year while doing my brakes. Using speed bleeders helps in changing brake fluid and making sure all the air is out.

Re: Spungy brake pedal

Did you bleed the brakes in the correct sequence? Being that this is a linked braked system there is a procedure to follow. Front Brake Reservoir 1: Front Right Caliper Upper Bleeder Valve 8mm 2: Front Left Caliper Middle/lower Bleeder Valve 10mm Rear Reservoir (under right side engine cover) 1: Fro...
