84 Aspencade Still Running Hot

I've replaced the head gaskets, had the heads checked for cracks and machined, replaced the water pump, thermostat, had the radiator boiled and checked for flow, and synched the carbs. It starts right up, runs great and the fan is working but after 15 minutes on the freeway it's 1 bar from the top. ...

Cam Interchangability

One of the lobes on my cam is slightly pitted. I have a spare cam but the one that is in the head is stamped "R1" and the spare is stamped "R2". Is there really a difference and if so, what?

Thanks,

Cam Alignment

I aligned everything so that I could pull the heads and replace the gaskets but found the heads were warped. I got them machined and also had a valve job but now I'm not sure how to line up the cams so they are in the right position. Also the manual states that the shims need to be adjusted if certa...

Reputable Machine Shop in Riverside/Orange County Calif

I live in Riverside California and I'm looking to have the cylinder heads machined. Does anyone know of a good machine shop either in Riverside or Orange County?

Thanks,

Question About Boiling the Radiator

My '84 Aspencade was overheating so I pulled the heads and one head was pitted and the gasket was blown. I don't know if that was causing it to overheat or if it was overheating and damaged the head. I've replaced the water pump and thermostat. I thought I would get the radiator re-cored or rodded o...

Oil Control Orifice on Cylinder Head

No new o-rings for the oil control orifice came with the head gasket I ordered. Can anyone tell me the best place to get them?

Thanks...

Re: Parts for Engine Rebuild

It doesn't turn over so it seems the engine is locked up. I looked at some other posts and read that others with engines that wouldn't turn over put seafoam in the pistons and were able to free it up. I've got the seafoam and am letting it soak in. I'll let you know what happens. Thanks for the feed...

Re: Water Pump for '84 GL1200

Thanks for the info. I have the pump and gaskets and am in the process of putting the waterpump in as well as replacing the head gaskets. I'm a CPA so I'm really busy with taxes right now so it's taking longer then I'd like... I'll let you know when I'm done.

Oil Pump

I'm replacing the water pump on my '84 Aspencade and was thinking I should replace the oil pump as well. I don't see a lot of posts on replacing the oil pump. Do they just not go out or what? Also does anyone have any recommendations on where to buy an oil pump?

Thanks!

Parts for Engine Rebuild

I was able to get an '84 GL1200 cheap because the engine needs to be rebuilt. What are the best sources to buy the parts? Are oversized pistons still available if it needs to be rebored? I may just have a shop do all the work. Does anyone know of a good mechanic in Riverside/Orange County California...

California Carburetor vs Everywhere Else

Does anyone know if there is a probelem with putting a carburetor without California emissions control on a bike that is set up for California emission? Also where is the best place to get a carb rebuild kit for an '84 GL1200?

Any input would be appreciated!

Oil Filter

Are there any oil filters I can get at the auto parts store that will work on my '84 GL1200? Are there any lists of other parts that I can buy at the auto parts store that will work on my Goldwing (like spark plugs, etc)?

Thanks...

1984 GL1200 Stator

Hi... new member here. I bought a 1984 GL1200 from a guy who said the stator was bad. I picked it up in San Luis Obisbo, CA and drove it to Orange County, a distance of about 180 miles and the battery was still fully charged. The selenoid wires get hot and the electrical system will go completely de...
