Re: Side Panel Stud Repair
IF all else fails, take a wood dowel that fits the grommet snug but loose enough to slide. Cut a piece of dowel about 1/2 again longer than it looks like it needs and shallowly insert into the grommet. Push side cover into place and that will set the depth needed. Cut shorter if it bottoms out to s...

Re: Aluminum casting repair
Well as fate would have it, my patch looked like it held after my 20 minute test ride, but I noticed about 2+ hours after being home I noticed a couple of drops of something on the cardboard I had under the bike. So upon taking off the lower cover I noticed a couple of small puddles of oil So my pat...

Re: Aluminum casting repair
A replacement cover costs 282 dollars and some change A brand new one from Honda perhaps, but from the look of that photo a new one wouldn't match the rest of the bike. Lots of used ones with "patina" are available on eBay. Here's one for $85 or "Make an Offer". https://www.ebay...

Re: Aluminum casting repair
Thank you for the feedback. I am doing something similar to what you are saying, hoping I will see good results tomorrow Please let us know how it goes and include some pictures. I just saw your email as I got back from a test ride of my fix, and there are no leaks, and I didn't take any pictures, ...

Aluminum casting repair
I managed to put a hole in one of my cylinder head covers, while trying to put insert in a striped out hole. I am thinking I need some JB Weld for aluminum, and I can put pieces back in place. What I am looking for is some suggestions for repairing this. I have an idea of how I will do it, but there...

pushing in turn signal button gives you temp readings
I have had this on my bike for some years now, and I remember seeing how to set it up in the past, but can't remember where I might have saved it. So now I am not able to make the temp reading come up, some work done on the bike probably stopped the temp from showing up. Anyway a combination of a fe...

GL1800 heated grip recommendations
I have an 06 GL1800 that I believe I am going to have to change the heated grips because they are defective, I still need to check continuity of the grips, and I was wondering what heated grips were most people using to replace their defective heated grips.

Re: Wings over North Carolina back in the mountains.
We attended the rally last year, the first NC rally for my wife and I both. I do remember hearing many from our chapter talk about all the great riding where the rally use to be, and didn't seem interested in pursuing this rally because of the new location. So hopefully we and others will make the r...

Re: Centramatic ballancing
I bought a used 2006 GL1800 last year, and the bike had the Centramatic balancers, and I didn't notice any vibration, or anything that might suggest tire imbalance. I guess I have to believe they work.....................

Re: windsheild adjuster replacement
Quite the job, one of those things that you wish you had not started, but were past the point of no return. Lots of stuff had to come off, and you are correct about the service manual, I have one on its way. So anyway I did manage to get this done, but would still be in the garage swearing and cursi...

windsheild adjuster replacement
I have an 2003 GL1800 and I need to replace my windshield adjuster. I am seeing that I need to take off the "meter visor panel" which makes sense, but on my bike it looks like the part of the meter visor panel that is on the driver side of the windshield as opposed to the front fender side...
