Headset question

My wife and I currently ride a 2009 Goldwing and have J&M headsets. My headset is an older model that has the microphone molded directly to the mounting bracket and the speakers are hardwired to the bracket. My wife’s is a 801 series headset and the microphone and speakers are plugged into wires...

Bra for Escapade trailer

I repainted my Escapade trailer silver to match my trike and replaced the bra and cooler cover with black ones to match my trikes fender protection.I have the gray set I removed that is in fairly good shape. It looks like there are a couple of spots on the bra that might be tar which will probably c...

Re: Cell service around Lake Superior

Just found it and it sounds interesting. I will just have to see how we are time wise because of other stops we are planning to see on that day. I will add it to the GPS routing.

Re: Cell service around Lake Superior

That’s good information Ron. One of the days I have planned on riding from Marquette to Copper Harbor where I have room reservations. It’s only a 217 mile ride that day so it looks like we will be going thru Keweenaw Bay around lunch time and I will definitely stop in L’Anse for a cinnamon roll. I d...

Re: Cell service around Lake Superior

Thanks for the information about cell service around Lake Superior. I will go to the local Verizon store and visit with them. This is going to be slightly longer than a two week trip with about a week in Canada. I had read that going clockwise around the lake made for the best viewing so that is wha...

Re: Cell service around Lake Superior

Thanks for the information. I just read your review on Spot and will have to look into that. I went to their website to start doing a little research on it and was disappointed to find out about their cancellation policy. When a company makes it difficult to cancel their service I tend to shy away b...

Cell service around Lake Superior

My wife and I are planning to leave Kansas City and ride around Lake Superior this July. Who has the best cell service coverage that will be able to keep us in touch if we need to be reached by family or if we need to contact somebody while we are on the road. I currently have Sprint but I am not ve...

Re: Monthly News letter

You are correct that it says unsubscribe. I have a gmail address so it shouldn’t be a yahoo issue. I am going to try to unsubscribe and then try to start over by subscribing again and see what happens. I have never seen it in my junk mail folder. I will let you know what happens.

Re: Intercom not working

Check all cable ends and see if you are missing a pin. My wife has had two cables that had a pin break off where it plugged into the helmet. It is a real pain to get the broken off pin out of the helmet plug.

Re: Garmin Zumo 395LM Motorcycle GPS

If you are wondering about unwiring it to move the mount to a car you don't have to. The 395 comes with a ram mount and wiring to hard wire the mount. It also comes with a suction mount for a car or truck and another wiring harness with a power plug attachment. In other words you get two separate mo...

Re: Opinions on riding gear

Does the material in ballistic motorcycle jackets break down with age and or sun exposure? My wife asked while we were on our last trip and I didn't have an answer. Do they need to be replaced every few years like our helmets?

Re: trike

The GWRRA puts out a magazine that has a motorcycles and trikes for sale section. I don't know if you can see the adds on line without being a member but you might know somebody that belongs or check into when the local chapter has a meeting. They always welcome visitors and may just know of some fo...

Re: new

Check the GWRRA website for a local chapter. There are a few near you that have a variety of trikes and a lot of knowledge. There are two chapters in Wichita and chapters in El Dorado, Arkansas City and Hutchinson.

WD40 makes a contact cleaner now. I have not used it yet but have read reports that it works really well. According to test reports on the WD40 website it does better than CRC contact cleaner. I haven't remembered to look for it at the hardware store or auto supply but intend to pick up a can we I s...

Re: Photo Tag ---Anyone want to play?

Here is my 2009 GL1800 with a Roadsmith trike conversion with a radio controlled model boat that has a early 1950's Johnson outboard motor on it. If this photo meets the criteria how about a picture of your motorcycle with a horse.

Re: Normal operating trmperature

Mine has the same readings. Just below midway on the gauge is normal and the fan comes on about the time it reaches the midway mark if I am stopped or riding in a parade below 15MPH. I guess the fan pushes the air to the front to keep it away from the driver when you are going slow or are stopped an...

Re: Changing the front tire

Thanks for the replys. The front brakes have always made a noise if I got on them hard in an emergency situation bu...

Changing the front tire

I removed the front tire on my GL1800 to install a new front tire and noticed that the scribe mark on the axel was about 1/8th inch away from the fork. A video that I watched on changing the front tire said that the scribe mark should align with the outside of the fork. The tire was installed a litt...

Re: Handle Bar Helmet Locks

I am glad you posted about Lidlox. I looked for a way to lock my helmets to my handle bars a couple of years ago. A friend had some of these on a older motorcycle but I couldn't find any that worked on a GL1800. I tried a few different dealers and looked on the internet but never found anything that...
