Re: wiring help on headlight

After all the effort it turned out the hi/lo switch went out on me.

I put in a spdt swith in the fairing as suggested by virgil and that will work fine. Thanks for all your suggestions.

I learn a lot when I go at it myself, with your help of course !

The unit and speakers all in one unit on top of speedo in abs plastic self contained unit. orange and black wires go out of stereo thru little plastic box, ...

I have a switch that has a red rocker look to it that lights up. It was used for running lights that I don't use. on the side of it it has a label which says the left post is ground, the middle says accessories, and the right post says power. If I ground the left, hook the white to the accessorie, and t...

wiring help on headlight

Ok..so I was messing around with speedometer cause it was acting up. twisting it toward me so i could spray some graphite in the back which didnt help. Later noticed my headlight wasn't on. Can't be a coincidence. After much consideration tore the whole fairing off bike, have everything laid out in ...

Re: trurn signals not flashing

Found my problem when i went to mount new tires this spring. I had two wires in turn signal housing up against each other.
seperated them and rewrapped them and bang i'm back to selfcancelling signals again.

crossthreaded bolt through shock into transfer case

I did it now! When I removed and replace my rear wheel I found that as I unscrewed the back shock. the bolt was stuck in the shock and the whole post screwed out of the transmission hub or transfer case(whatever its called) Instead of dealing with it correctly I was lazy and tried to put it back tha...

Re: WHITE SMOKE OUT THE TAIL PIPES 81 GOLDWING GL1100

Ive noticed it on my 82 gl1100 too. when left on sidestand like the guys have said, clears quickly though.

Try it when your on centerstand I bet you'll notice it less.

I figure on an old bike as long as I'm not fogging for mosquitoes once I get going done the road I'm cool (smile)

balancing tires,dyna beads,wobble

I just finished putting dyna beads in the new dunlops I put on this past week. Oh my god...should have done this a long time ago ! I have had a scary wobble in the front end ever since I bought this bike. I've read every post about possible solutions. I admit I'm not an anal personality and have nev...

trurn signals not flashing

Tomorrow I'm going to begin my search for the problem. My turn signals always worked fine then all of a sudden I noticed they were staying lit and not self canceling. I don't remember them ever beeping over 40 mph but maybe they did. If I manually toggle the switch I can simulate them blinking for r...

coolant tubes

Well...my good intentions to replace the o rings in my coolant tubes is complete now,but what a learning curve !!! I started by removing bolts holding elbow joints to top of head; I broke 3 of the 4 off in the head, probably should have heated them but I'll never know for sure they may still not have...

replacing spark plug wires

I've looked at a bunch of posts and see that I should use 7mm copper cores wires.

Does anyone have a tip for accessing the connection to the coil. I have an 1982 gl1100 interstate and it looks really hard to get to. should I pull the whole airbox out where the air filter is ?

Can anyone tell me if there is a DIY article on replacing timing belts on my 1982 gl1100 I. I could have sworn I saw one before but now I can't find it.
