Re: Trailer ZigZag

What causes a trailer to zigzag back and forth at speed.... ....oscillation comes and goes and is not constant...ideas? Along with tongue length there's another critical, mass weight. It's rare but oscillation can be caused by improperly loaded trailers. Keep the heaviest centered and slightly forw...

Re: trailer or hitch rack

... The support arm is about an inch too short and the front lip of the rack is up under the plastic between the saddlebags under the license plate. That decreases the usable area of the rack. ... If the support arm were 2-3 inches longer it might be perfect. This can be your solution. extend.png

Re: Darkside Tech: Using Car Tires on a Motorcycle Rim

My 91 Wing has 250K & most of it are my miles. ALL the mileage of 2 Austone's are mine which is 160K. Yes, I got 80,000 miles out of each tire. I'm ready to put on #3 Austone. Skip posting this info, search my posts for original. I had a severe death-wobble induced by a car hitting the rear of my tr...

Re: Leaking crossover coolant pipe

You're not gonna like this answer... As far as I know, there isn't an EZ way to fix this o-ring leak. I haven't taken a 1500 head off, yet, so I can't answer which is easier. Saving cost. Remove the carbs and leaking side intake, R&R the o-ring. Vaseline for lube on ring & the port it's going to. I ...

Re: Speaking of Austone Taxi Tires....

I can't seem to find it anywhere either. I sent an email to Universal Vintage Tire, which is where I bought mine, to find out what's going on. I got this email back from Universal Vintage Tire today, when I sent them an email asking if they still had the Austone: Yes we do. We have it at $164.00 pe...

Re: Some riders...

I've been riding 24/365 for the past 8 years. My previous low temp rides were -17*F about 5 years ago. Late in the 1970s, -21*F but that was only 3 miles, didn't have good clothing then. Last month on Tues (Jan 29) pool league bank sign showed this chilly temp. Roads were clean and just glad where I...

Re: 4"x6" speakers in the dash?

I attempted to install the Pioneer 4x6 Speakers like you did however I can't figure out how to get the speakers to fit any lower in the opening. The edge around the speaker is at least 1/4" thick and the bezel won't fit over them. Now i've got this huge opening I need to figure out how to get the s...

Re: can you make a new muffler system quieter

I know some of the Harley guys used to line the inside of their pipes with stove rope, not certain what that did for back pressure but it seemed to work for noise. Lining an exhaust pipe with stove rope works like a guns silencer. Low RPM it works, high it's LOUD! The following is placed in the end...

Seen your dilemma on trailer wobble. Forgive me if you already know these, I don't know what you know. Out of possible 6 things that creates wobbles, 3 can be your problem, 2(?) covered in the thread. Since others covered the USUAL'S, I'll mention some other probables. As you read here the adding we...

Either truckers seem happier these days or they've seen me riding through previous winters but I'm getting more thumbs up from passing truckers than usual. No waves from passing bike riders, well, there are no other riders on the road. I guess 20*F for a high isn't warm enough. OH well, that 'Long L...

Always possible someone could have a similar issue and find this old thread helpful with new or missed repair suggestions.

Sorry for helping.
I'll make a note never to do it again.

No, but I see it now.

I just looked at the Forums lists, the postings are chronological old to new. Problem is Ascending & Descending choice is Global only.

I guess I'm not in a humorous mood.

Possible this hitch is homemade but the 2000 WingSE has only Kuryakyn accessories, to which I already searched for it as such.

Re: Carburetor removal from bike

Wing Carb rebuilds are $$.$$ and some hard parts are near nonexistent. KNOW the float level before disassembly. Some report horror stories of going thru R&R several times. R&R mine last month, not for a rebuild (see below). I'm SURE I'll miss something but this is a 10 minute quick list. Others will...

Re: Gas Mileage Seems Low

Our 1500's are 18+ years old. Age dries out rubber & plastic parts. Heat speeds up this process and they become brittle and shrink. If you have a crack show up in one area, take it for granted more will show up elsewhere. Poor mpgs has many reasons, personal throttle use, vac leaks, fuel leaks, fuel...

Type of shoes matters to those with high/low threshold of pain. But the harder the better, don't want a tender foot, right paleface? Re: Use an auto tire on the front wheel of a trike?

Pulling a "Ripley's believe it or Not" huh. Well... I got My 91 at 51K miles. Installed 3 rear bike tires and averaged about 12K each. Rather expensive since I ride around 20K per year. My first Austone I installed around 88,000+ miles on the odometer. My second one I installed it at 168,100 miles. ...

When I looked at my Wings C'stand, I wasn't too impressed with sheet metal for strength for what we're looking to do. Of course it's good for it current purpose. Shock absorbing needs to be factored in. Don't want hard shocks going through the frame to delicate, expensive or eventual unreplaceable i...

Here in Florida, the county does it. My last wreck was from hitting that grass, at night, just after passing a car going the other direction, and on a curve. $5000 damage and a broken ankle and many scrapes, after being high sided. They don't care, its not them. I got repaired and healed up. My ins...
